I can't recommend this book highly enough. It is not only beautifully and entertainingly written, but it highlights an aspect of the attraction of the Catholic Church that often goes unnoted -- the fact that God draws us through grace to himself not only by theological truth and by love, but also by true beauty and order - specifically in the beauty and order that is found in the liturgy and worship of the Catholic Faith. I personally know Evangelicals who have read this book and, recognizing for the first time the unnatural austerity of their own worship traditions, have been drawn -- if not to Catholicism -- toward Catholicism via other Christian faith traditions that emphasize beauty and timelesssness in their liturgies. It is also worth noting that Howard, who is the brother of popular Protestant speaker Elizabeth Elliot, wrote this book while still an Evangelical.

For evangelicals who wish to plumb the depths of Liturgical Worship - this is THE BOOK. For Catholic readers they will rediscover the beauty of the Liturgy. Thomas Howard is great. I recommend all his books. He also has a TV series on EWTN, the global Catholic network.

The book was in excellent condition. The content was what I expected but was hoping for both perspectives. I would have ordered it again.
