Korah." "These be they who separate themselves, sensual, having not the spirit." "But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost, keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life." (Jude 6-21.)

A Litany.

REMEMBER not, Lord, my of
fences, nor the offences of my
forefathers; neither take thou
vengeance of my sins: spare me,
good Lord, spare thy servant,
whom thou hast redeemed with
thy most precious blood, and be
not angry with me for ever.
Spare me, good Lord.

From all evil and mischief;
from sin, from the crafts and
assaults of the devil; from thy

wrath, and from everlasting dam

nation,

Good Lord, deliver me.

From all blindness of heart; from pride, vain-glory, and hypocrisy; from envy, hatred, and malice, and all uncharitableness,

Good Lord, deliver me.

From fornication, and all other deadly sin; and from all the deceits of the world, the flesh, and the devil,

Good Lord, deliver me.

O Lord, deal not with me after my sins.

Neither reward me after my iniquities.

A Prayer.

O GOD, merciful Father, that despisest not the sighing of a

contrite heart, nor the desire of such as be sorrowful; Mercifully assist my prayers that I make before thee in all my troubles and adversities, whensoever they oppress me; and graciously hear me, that those evils, which the craft and subtilty of the devil or man worketh against me be brought to nought; and by the providence of thy goodness they may be dispersed; that I thy servant, being hurt by no persecutions, may evermore give thanks unto thee in thy holy Church; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

A Collect.

ALMIGHTY and everlasting God, who hatest nothing that thou

hast made, and dost forgive the sins of all them that are penitent; Create and make in me a new and contrite heart, that I worthily lamenting my sins, and acknowledging my wretchedness, may obtain of thee, the God of all mercy, perfect remission and forgiveness; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

FIFTH MEDITATION.

SINS OF TEMPTATION.

"LET him that thinketh he standeth, take heed lest he fall." (1 Cor. x. 12.) The sinfulness of nature may, by the grace of God's Holy Spirit, and through the blood of my Saviour Jesus Christ, be cleansed; evil principles and evil habits may have been avoided, and the knowledge of God's law may have worked in my heart a generally righteous life, so that I may look around me, and say, "Judge me, O Lord, for I have walked in my integrity." (Ps. xxvi. 1.) Suppose that it be so, and that it be possible that I might exclaim with the young man in the Gospel, "All these things have I kept from my youth up; what lack I yet?" (Matt. xix. 20.)
