A faying, z Son of man, fet thy face toward the mountains of Ifracl, and prophefy against them, And fay, Ye mountains of Ifrael, hear the word of the Lord God; Thus faith the Lord Gon to the mountains and to the hills, to the rivers and to the vailies; Behold, I, even I, will bring afword upon you, and I will destroy your high places. 4 And your altars fhall be defolate, and your images fhall be broken: and I will caft down your flain men betore your idols. 5 And I will lay the dead carcafes of the children of Ifrael before their idols; and I will fcatter your bones round about your altars. 6 In all your dwelling-places the cities thall be laid wafte, and the high places thall be defolate; that your altars may be laid wafte and made defolate, and your idols may be broken and ceafe, and your images may be cut down, and your works may be abolished. 7And the flain fhall fall in the midst of you; and ye shall know that I am the LORг. 8Yet will I leave a remnant, that ye may have fome that thall efcape the fword among the nations, when ye shall be scattered through the countries. 9 And they that efcape of you fhall remember me among the nations, whither they fhall be carried captives, because I am broken with their whorish heart, which hath departed from me, and with their eyes, which go a whoring after their idols: and they thall loathe themfelves for the evils which they have committed in all their abominations. 10 And they fhall know that I am the LORD, and that I have not faid in vain that I would do this evil unto them. 11 Thus faith the Lord Gon, Smite with thine hand, and ftamp with thy foot, and fay, Alas, for all the evil abominations of the houfe of Ifrael! for they fhall fall by the fword, by the famine, and by the peftilence. 12 He that is far off thall die of the peftilence; and he that is near fhall fall by the fword; and he that remaineth and is befieged fhall die by the famine: thus will I accomplish my fury upon them. 13 Then thall ye know that I am the LORD, when their flain men thall be among their idols round about their altars, upon every high hill, in all the tops of the mountains, and under every green tree, and under every thick oak, the place where they did offer fweet favour to all their idols. 14 So will Itretch out my hand upon them, CHAP. VII. Munto me, faying, Oreover the word of the LORD came 2 Alfo, thou fon of man, thus faith the Lord Goo unto the land of Ifrael; An end, Their final deflation. the end is come upon the four corners of the land. 3 Now is the end come upon thee, and I will fend mine anger upon thee, and will judge thee according to thy ways, and will recom penfe upon thee all thine abominations. 4 And mine eye shall not fpare thee, neither will I have pity: but I will recompenfe thy ways upon thee, and thine abominations thall be in the midst of thee; and ye shall know that I am the LORD. 5 Thus faith the Lord Goo; An evil, an only evil, behold, is come. 6 An end is come, the end is come: it watcheth for thee; behold, it is come, 7 The morning is come upon thee, O thou that dwelleft in the land: the time is come, the day of trouble is near, and not the founding again of the mountains. Now will I fhortly pour out my fury upon thee, and accomplish mine anger upon thee; and I will judge thee according to thy ways, and will recompenfe thee for all thine abo minations. And mine eye shall not fpare, neither will I have pity: I will recompenfe thee ac. cording to thy ways, and thinc abominations that are in the midst of thee; and ye shall know that I am the LORD that fmiteth. 10 Behold the day, behold, it is come: the morning is gone forth; the rod hath bloom. ed, pride hath budded. IT Violence is riten up into a rod of wicked. nefs: none of them ball remain, nor of their multitude, Lor of any of theirs: neither ball there be wailing for them. 12 The time is come, the day draweth near; let not the buyer rejoice, nor the fel ler mourn: for wrath is upon all the multitude thereof. 13 For the feller fhall not return to that which is fold, although they were yet alive: for the vision is touching the whole multitude thereof, which shall not return; neither thall any strengthen himself in the iniquity of his life. 14 They have blown the trumpet, even to make all ready; but none goeth to the battle: for my wrath is upon all the multitude thereof. 15 The fword is without, and the peftilence and the famine within he that is in the field fhall die with the fword; and he that is in the city, famine and peftilence hall devour him. 16 But they that efrape of them fhall efcape, and thall be on the mountains like doves of the valleys, all of them mourning, every one for his iniquity. 17 All hands fhall be feeble, and all knees fhall be weak as water. 18 They fhall alfo gird themselves with fackcloth, and horror hall cover them; and thame fall be upon all faces, and baldness upon all their heads. 19 They fhall cait their filver in the Atreets, and their gold fhall be removed: their filver and their gold thall not be able to deliver them in the day of the wrath of the LORD: they shall not fatisfy their fouls, neither fill their bowels: because it is the ftumblingblock of their iniquity. 20 As for the beauty of his ornament, he fet it in majefty: but they made the images of their abominations and of their detentZ able EZEXIE L. Ifrael's miferable captivity, able things therein: therefore have 1 fet it far from them. 21 And I will give it into the hands of the Atrangers for a prey, and to the wicked of the earth for a (poil; and they shall pollute it. 22 My face will I turn alfo from them, and they shall pollute my fecret place: for the robbers thall enter into it, and defile it. 23 Make a chain: for the land is full of bloody crimes, and the city is full of vio. lence. 24 Wherefore I will bring the worft of the heachen, and they fhall poffefs their houses: I will alfo make the pomp of the ftrong to ceafe, and their holy places thall be defiled. 25 Deftruction cometh; and they shall feek peace, and there shall be none. 26 Mifchief thall come upon mischief, and rumour thall be upon rumour; then thall they feek a vition of the prophet: but the law thall perish from the priest, and counfel from the ancients. 27 The king thall mourn, and the prince fhall be clothed with defolation, and the hands of the people of the land thall be troubled: I will do unto them after the way, and according to their deferts will I judge them; and they fhall know that I am the LORD. CHAP. VIII. The marked preserved. nable beafts, and all the idols of the house of Ifrael, pourtrayed upon the wall round about. 11 And there food before them seventy men of the ancients of the houfe of Ifrael, and in the midft of them flood Jaazaniah the fon of Shaphan, with every man his cenfer in his hand; and a thick cloud of inceale went up. 12 Then faid he unto me, Son of man, haft thou feen what the ancients of the houfe of Ifrael do in the dark, every man in the chambers of his imagery? For they fay, The LORD feeth us not; the LORD hath toríaken the earth. 13 He faid alfo unto me, Turn thee yet again, and thou shalt fee greater abominations that they do. 14 Then he brought me to the door of the gate of the LORD's houfe which was toward the north; and, behold, there fat women weeping for Tammuz. 15 Then faid he unto me, Haft thou seen this, O fon of man? Turn thee yet again, and thou fhait fee greater abominations than these. 16 And he brought me into the inner court of the LORD's houfe, and, behold, at the door of the temple of the LORD, between the porch and the altar, were about five and twenty 1 Ezkeiel's vision of jealousy. So I lifted up mine eyes the way to ward the north, and behold northward at the gate of the altar this image of jealousy in the entry. He fail furthermore unto me, Son of man, feeft thou what they do? even the great abominations that the house of Ifrael committeth here, that I should go far off from m. fanctuary? But turn thee yet again, and thou shalt fee greater abominations. 7 And he brought me to the door of the court; and when I looked, behold a hole in the wall. 8 Then faid he unto me, Son of man, dig now in the wall; and when I had digged in the wall, behold a door. 9 And he faid unto me, Goin, and behold the wicked abominations that they do here. 10 S1 went in and faw; and "ehold every form of creeping things, and abomi 17 Then he faid unto me, Haft thou feen this, O fon of man? Is it a light thing to the houfe of Judah that they commit the abominations which they commit here? For they have filled the land with violence, and have returned to provoke me to anger and, lo, they put the branch to their nofe. 18 Therefore will I alfo deal in fury: mine eye shall not fpare, neither will I have pity: and though they cry in mine ears with a loud voice, yet will I not hear them. E He cried alfo in mine ears with a loud voice, faying, Cause them that have charge over the city to draw near, even every man with his deftroying weapon in his hand. 2 And, behold, fix men came from the way of the higher gate, which lieth toward the porth, and every man a flaughter weapon in his hand; and one man among them was clothed with linen, with a writer's inkhorn by his fide: and they went in, and flood be. fide the brafen altar. 3 And the glory of the God of Ifrael was gone up from the cherub, whereupon he was, to the threshold of the house. And be called to the man clothed with linen, which bad the writer's inkhorn by his tide; 4 And the LORD faid unto him, Go through the midst of the city, through the midst of Jerufalem, and fet a mark upon the foreheads of the men that figh and that cry for all the abominations that be done in the midst thereof. 5 And to the others he said in mine hearing, Go ye after him through the city and fmiter let not your eye pare, neither have ye pity: Cherubims and wheels. The princes' fin, andjudgment. 6 slay utterly old and young, both maids, four fides; they turned not as they went, and little children, and women: but come but to the place whither the head looked not near any man upon whom is the mark; they followed it; they turned not as they and begin at my fanctuary. Then they began went. at the ancient men which were before the boufe. 7And he faid unto them, Defile the houfe, and fill the courts with the flain: go ye forth. And they went forth, and flew in the city. 8¶ And it came to pafs, while they were flaying them, and I was left, that I fell upon my face, and cried, and faid, Ah Lord God! wilt thou deftroy all the refidue of Ifrael in thy pouring out of thy fury upon Jerufalem? 9 Then faid he unto me, The iniquity of the house of Ifrael and Judah is exceeding great, and the land is full of blood, and the city full of perverfenefs: for they fay, The LORD hath forfaken the earth, and the LORD feeth not. 10 And as for me alfo, mine eye fhall not fpare, ner her will I have pity, but I will recompenfe their way upon their head. II And, behold, the man clothed with linen, which bad the inkhorn by his fide, reported the matter, faying, I have done as thou haft commanded me. CHAP. X. The vision of the coals of fire to be fcattered over the city. 8 The vifion of the cherubims. THEN I looked, and, behold, in the firmament that was above the head of the cherubims, there appeared over them as it were a fapphire ftone, as the appearance of the likeness of a throne. 2 And he spake unto the man clothed with linen, and faid, Go in between the wheels, even under the cherub, and fill thine hand with coals of fire from between the cheru bims, and scatter them over the city. And he went in in my fight. 3 Now the cherubims flood on the right fide of the houfe, when the man went in; and the cloud filled the inner court. 4 Then the glory of the LORD went up from the cherub, and food over the threshold of the house; and the house was filled with the cloud, and the court was full of the brightnefs of the LORD'S glory. 5 And the found of the cherubims' wings was heard even to the outer court, as the 12 And their whole body, and their backs, and their hands, and their wings, and the wheels, were full of eyes round about, even the wheels that they four had. 13 As for the wheels, it was cried unto them in my hearing, O wheel. 14 And every one had four faces: the first face was the face of a cherub, and the fecond face was the face of a man, and the third the face of a lion, and the fourth the lace of an eagle. 15 And the cherubims were lifted up. This is the living creature that I faw by the river of Chebar. 16 And when the cherubims went, the wheels went by them; and when the cheru bims lifted up their wings to mount up from the earth, the fame wheels alfo turned not from beide them, 17 When they food, thefe ftood; and when they were lifted up, thefe lifted up themselves also: for the spirit of the living creature was in them. 18 Then the glory of the LORD departed from off the threshold of the house, and stood over the cherubims. 19 And the cherubims lifted up their wings and mounted up from the earth in my fight: when they went out, the wheels alfo were beside them, and every one stood at the door of the caft gate of the LORD's houfe; and the glory of the God of Ifrael was over them above. 20 This is the living creature that I saw under the God of Ifrael by the river of Chebar, and I knew that they were the cherubims. 21 Every one had four faces apiece, and every one four wings; and the likeness of the hands of a man was under their wings. 22 And the likeness of their faces was the fame faces which I faw by the river of Chebar, their appearances and themselves: they went every one straight forward. CHAP. XI. 1 The princes' prefumption: 4 their fin and judgment. 14 God's purpose in saying a remnant, 21 and punishing the wicked. voice of the Almighty God when he fpeaketh. Moreover the spirit lifted me up, and 6 And it came to pafs, that when he had commanded the man clothed with linen, faying, Take fire from betwee. the wheels, from between the cherubims; then he went in, and stood beside the wheels. 7 And one cherub ftretched forth his hand from between the cherubims unto the fire that, was between the cherubims, and took thereof, and put it into the hands of him that was clothed with linen: who took it, and went out. 8 And there appeared in the cherubims the form of a man's hand under their wings. 9 And when I looked, behold, the four wheels by the cherubims, one wheel by one cherub, and another wheel by another cherub: and the appearance of the wheels was as the colour of a beryl stone. To And as for their appearances, they four had one likeness, as if a wheel had been in the midft of a wheel. When they went they went upon theis brought me unto the eaft gate of the LORD'S houfe, which looketh caffward; and behold at the door of the gate five and twenty men; among whom I faw Jaazaniah the fon of Azur, and Pelatiah the fon of Benaiah, princes of the people. 2 Then faid he unto me, Son of man, these are the men that devife mischief, and give wicked counsel in this city. 3 Which fay, it is not near; let us build houses: this city is the caldron, and we be the flesh. 4¶ Therefore prophesy against them, prð. phefy, O fon of man. 5 And the Spirit of the LORD fell upon me, and faid unto me, Speak; Thus faith the LORD; Thus have ye faid, O houfe of Ifrael: for I know the things that come into your mind, every one of them. 6 Ye have multiplied your flain in this city, and ye have filled the streets thereof with the 7 Therefore thus faith the Lord God; your 22 Daiu Rain whom ye have laid in the midst of it, they are the flesh, and this city is the caldron, but I will bring you forth out of the midit of it. 8 Ye have feared the sword; and I will bring a fword upon you, faith the Lord Gop. 9 And I will bring you out of the midft thereof, and deliver you into the hands of strangers, and will execute judgments among you. to Ye shall fall by the fword; I will judge you in the border of Ifrael; and ye shall know that I am the LORD. 11 This city thall not be your caldron, neither thall ye be the flesh in the midft thereof; but I will judge you in the border of Ifrael: 12 And ye hall know that I am the LORD: for ye have not walked in my ftatutes, neither executed my judgments, but have done after the manners of the heathen that are round about you. 13 And it came to pafs, when I prophefed, that Pelatiah the fon of Renaiah died. Then fell down upon my face, and cried with a loud voice, and faid, Ah Lord Gon! wilt thou make a full end of the remnant of Ifrae!! 14 Again the word of the LORD came unto me, faying, 15 Son of man, thy brethren, even thy bre thren, the men of thy kindred, and all the houfe of Ifrael wholly, are they unto whom the inhabitants of Jerufalem have faid, Get ye far from the LORD: unto us is this land given in poffeffion. 16 Therefore fay, Thus faith the Lord God; Although I have caft them far off among the heathen, and although I have feattered them among the countries, yet will I be to them as a little fanctuary in the countries where they shall come. 17 Therefore fay, Thus faith the Lord Gon, I will even gather you from the people, and affemble you out of the countries where ye have been fcattered, and I will give you the land of Ifrael. 18 And they fhall come thither, and they fhall take away all the deteftable things thereof and all the abominations thereof from thence. 19 And I will give them one heart, and I will put a new fpirit within you; and I will take the ftony, heart out of their flesh, and will give them an heart of flesh : 20 That they may walk in my ftatutes, and keep mine ordinances, and do them: and they shall be my people, and I will be their God. 21 But as for them whofe heart waiketh after the heart of their deteftable things and their abominations, I will recompenfe their way upon their own heads, faith the Lord GOD. 22¶Then did the cherubims lift up their wings, and the wheels befide them; and the glory of the God of Ifrael was over them above. 23 And the glory of the LORD went up from the midit of the city, and flood upon the mountain which is on the eaft fide of the city. 24 Afterwards the fpirit took me up, and brought me in vifion by the Spirit of God into Chaldea, to them of the captivity. So the vifion that I had feen went up from me. Ifrael's captivity. 25 Then I fpake unto them of the captivity all the things that the LORD had thewed me. CHAP. XII. The type of Ezekiel's removing, 8 Serveth the captivity of Zedekiah. 17 Ezekiels trembling freweth the Jews defolation. THE word of the LORD alfo came unto me, faying, 2 Son of man, thou dwelleft in the midft of a rebellious houfe, which have eyes to fee, and fee not; they have ears to hear, and hear not: for they are a rebellious house. 3 Therefore, thou fon of man, prepare thee ftuff for removing, and remove by day in their fight; and thou shalt remove from thy place to another place in their fight: it may be they will confider, though they be a rebellious house. 4 Then thalt thou bring forth thy fluff by day in their fight, as ftuff for removing: and thou shalt go forth at even in their fight: as they that go forth into captivity. 5 Dig thou through the wall in their sight, and carry out thereby. 6 In their fight shalt thou bear it upon thy thoulders, and carry it forth in the twilight: thou shalt cover thy face, that thou fee not the ground: for I have fet thee for a fign unte the houfe of Ifrael. 7 And I did fo as I was commanded: I brought forth my ftuff by day, as ftuff for captivity, and in the even I digged through the wall with mine hand; I brought fr forth in the twilight, and I bare it upon my shoulder in their fight. 8 And in the morning came the word of the LORD unto me, faying, 9 Son of man, hath not the houfe of Ifrael, the rebellious house, faid unto thee, What doeft thou? To Say thou unto them, Thus faith the Lord God: This burden concerneth the prince in Jerufalem, and all the house of lfrael that art among them. 11 Say, I am your fign: like as I have done, fo fhall it be done unto them: they thall re move and go into captivity. 12 And the prince that is among them thall bear upon his thoulder in the twilight, and fhall go forth: they shall dig through the wall to carry out thereby he thall cover his face, that he fee not the ground with his eyes. 13 My net alfo will 1 fpread upon him, and he thall be taken in my fnare: and I will bring him to Babylon to the land of the Chaldeans; yet fhall he not fee it, though he thall die there. 14 And I will fcatter toward every wind all that are about him to help him, and all his bands; and I will draw out the sword after them. 15 And they shall know that I am the LORD, when I shall featter them among the nation., and difperfe them in the counties. 16 But I will leave a few men of them from the sword, from the famine, and from the peftilence; that they may declare all their abominations among the heathen whither they come; and they shall know that I am the LORD. 17 Moreover, the word of the LORD came to me, faying, 18 Son of inan, eat thy bread with quaking, and drink thy water with trembling and with carefulness: And defolation fignified. Of propheteffes, &c. ple, neither shall they be written in the writ ing of the house of Ifrael, neither thal! es enter into the land of Ifrael; and ye thail know that I am the Lord Gon. Chap. xii, xiv. 19 And fay unto the people of the land, Thus faith the Lord Gop of the inhabitants of Jerufalem, and of the land of Ifrael; They ihall eat their bread with carefulness, and drink their water with aftonishment, that her lan 1 may be defolate from all that is thereix, because of the violence of all them that dwell therein. 20 And the cities that are inhabited thall be laid waste, and the land fhall be defolate; and ye thall know that I am the LORD. 21 And the word of the LORD came unto me, faying, 22 Son of man, what is that proverb that ye have in the land of Ifrael, faying, The days are prolonged, and every vision tailech? 23 Tell them therefore, Thus faith the Lord GOD; I will make this proverb to ceafe, and they fhall no more ufe it as a proverb in Ifrael; but fay unto them, The days are at hand, and the effect or every vifion. 24 For there shall be no more any vain vifion nor flattering divination within the house of Ifrael. 25 For I am the LORD: I will fpeak, and the word that I shall fpeak shall come to pafs; it thall be no more prolonged for in your days, O rebellious houfe, will I fay the word, and will perform it, faith the Lord Gun. 26 Again the word of the LORD came to me, saying, 27 Son of man, behold, they of the houfe of Ifrael fay, The vifion that he feeth is for many days to come, and he prophefieth of the times that are far off. 28 Therefore fay unto them, Thus faith the Lord Gon; There fhall none of my words be prolonged any more, hat the word which I have spoken thall be done, faith the Lord GOD. XIII. 2 Son of man, prophefy against the prophets of Ifrael that prophely, ani fay thou unto them that prophefy out of their own hearts, Hear ye the word of the LORD; 3 Thus faith the Lord GoD; Woe unto the foolish prophets, that follow their own ipirit, and have feen nothing! 40 Ifrael, thy prophets are like the foxes in the deferts. Ye have not gone up into the gaps, neither made up the hedge for the houfe of If rael to ftand in the battle in the day of the LORD. 6 They have feen vanity and lying divination, faying, The LORD faith and the LORD hath not fent them: and they have made others to hope that they would confirm the word. 7 Have ye not feen a vain vifion, and have ye not ipoken a lying divination, whereas ye fay, The LORD faith it; albeit I have not Tpoken? 8 Therefore thus faith the Lord God; Becaufe ye have fpoken vanity, and feen lies, therefore, behold, I am against you, faiththe Lord GOD. 9 And mine hand fhall be upon the prophets that fee vanity, and that divine lies: they thall not be in the ailembly of my peo 10 Because, even because they have feduced my people, faying, Peace, and there was no peace; and one built up a wall, and, lo, others daubed it with untempered mortar: 11 Say unto them which daub it with untempered mortar, that it thall fall: there thall be an overflowing thower; and ye, O great hailitones, shall fall; and aitormy wind thall rend it. 12 Lo, when the wall is falten, shall it not be faid unto you, Where is the daubing where. with ye have daubed it? 13 Therefore thus faith the Lord God, I will even rend it with a flormy wind in my fury; and there shall be an overflowing shower in mine anger, and great hailstones in my tury to confume it. 14 So will I break down the wall that ye have daubed with untempered mortar, and bring it down to the ground, fo that the foundation thereof fhall be difcovered, and it fhall tall, and ye shall be confumed in the mid thereof: and ye shall know that I a the LORD. 15 Thus will I accomplish my wrath upon the wall, and upon them that have daubed it with untempered mortar, and will fay unto you, The wall is no more, neither they that daubed it; 16 To wit, the prophets of Ifrael which prophesy concerning Jerufalem, and which fee vifions of peace for her, and there is no peace, faith the Lord Gon. 17 Likewife, thou fan of man, fet thy face against the daughters of thy people, which prophefy out of their own heart; and prophesy thou against them, 18 And fay, Thus faith the Lord God; Woe to the women that few pillows to all arm. holes, and make kerchiefs upon the head of every ftature to hunt fouls! Will ye hunt the fouls of my people, and will ye fave the fouls alive that come unto you? 19 And will ye pollute meamong my people for handfuls of barley and tor pieces of bread, to flay the fouls that thould not die, and to fave the fouls alive that should not live, by your lying to my people that hear your lies? 20 Wherefore thus faith the Lord God; Behold, I am against your pillows, wherewith ye there hunt the fouls to make them fly, and I will tear them from your arms, and will let the fouls go, even the fouls that ye hunt to make them fly. 21 Your kerchiefs alfo will I tear, and deliver my people out of your hand, and they fhall be no more in your hand to be hunted, and ye fhall know that I am the LORD. 22 Because with lies ye have made the heart of the righteous fad, whom I have not made fad; and ftrengthened the hands of the wicked, that he should not return from his wicked way, by promiting him lite: 23 Therefore ye shall fee no more vanity, nor divine divinations: for I will deliver my people out of your hand: and ye shall know that I am the LORD.
