Redemption of fervants.

LEVITICUS.

34 But the field of the fuburbs of their ci-
ties may not be fold; for it is their perpetual
poffethon.

35And if thy brother be waxen poor, and fallen in decay with thee; then thou shalt relieve him: yea, though he be a stranger, or a fojourner; that he may live with thee.

36 Take thou no ufury of him, or increase: but fear thy God; that thy brother may live with thee.

37 Thou shalt not give him thy money upon ufury, nor lend him thy victuals for increase. 381 am the LORD your God, which brought you forth out of the land of Egypt, to give you the land of Canaan, ana to be your God.

39 And if thy brother that dwelleth by thee be waxen poor, and be fold unto thee; thou shalt not compel him to ferve as a bondfervant :

40 But as an hired fervant, and as a fojourner, he thall be with thee, and thall ferve thee unto the year of jubile.

41 And then thall he depart from thee, bath he and his children with him, and fhall return unto his own family, and unto the polethon of his fathers shall he return.

42 For they are my fervants, which I brought forth out of the land of Egypt: they hall not be fold as bond-men.

43 Thou shalt not rule over him with rigour, but fhalt tear thy God.

44 Both thy bond-men, and thy bondmaids, which thou shalt have, frail of the heathen that are round about you; of them fhall ye buy bond-men and bond-maids.

45 Moreover of the children of the frangers that do fojourn among you, of them Thall ye buy, and of their families that are with you, which they begat in your land; and they fhall be your pofiction:

46 And ye shall take them as an inheritance for your children atter you, to inherit them for a poßethion; they shall be your bond-men for ever: but over your brethren, the children of Ifrael, ye thall not rule one over another with rigour.

47 And is a fojourner or a ftranger wax rich by thee, and thy brother that dwelleth by him wax poor, and fell himself unto the ftranger or fojourner by thee, or to the ftock of the ftranger's family:

48 After that he is fold he may be redeemed again; one of his brethren may redeem

him:

49 Fither his uncle, or his uncle's fon, may redeem him, or any that is nigh of kin unto him of his family may redeem him; or, if he be able, he may redeem imfelf.

so And he thall reckon with him that bought him from the year that he was fold to him unto the year of jubile: and the price of his fale fhall be according unto the number of years, according to the time of an hired fervant fhall it be with him.

51 If there be yet many years behind, according unto them he thall give again the price of his redemption out of the money that he was bought for.

52 And if there remain but few years unto the year of jubile, then he thall count with

23 And it ye will not be reformed by me by thele things, but will walk contrary unto me; 24 Then will also walk contrary unto you, and will punish you yet feven times for your hes.

25 And I will bring a fword upon you, that thall avenge the quarrel of my covenant: and when ye are gathered together within your cities, I will fend the peinlence among you; and ye thall be delivered into the hand of the enemy.

25 Ana when I have broken the staff of your bread, ten women thall bake your bread In one oven, and they shall deliver you your bread again by weight: and ye shall eat, and not be fatisfied.

27 And if ye will not for all this hearken unto me, but walk contrary unto me;

28 Then I will walk contrary unto you also In fury: and i, even 1, will chaitife you seven times for your fas.

29 And ye thall eat the fleth of your fons, and the feth of your daughters fhall ye eat. 30 And I will destroy your high places, and

31 And 1 will make your cities wafte, and bring your fanctuaries unto defolation, and I will not fmell the favour of your sweet odours. 32 And I will bring the land into defolation; and your enemies which dwell thereie shall be astonished at it.

33 And I will fatter you among the heathen, and will draw out a fword atter you; and your And thall be defolate, and your cities wafte.

34 Then thall the land enjoy her fabbaths as long as it lieth defolate, and ye be in your enemies land; even then thall the land rest, and enjoy her fabbaths.

35 As long as it lieth defolate it shall reft; because it did not reft in your fabbaths, when ye dwell upon it.

36 And upon them that are left alive of you, I will lend a faintnefs into their hearts in the lands of their enemies; and the found of a thaken leat thall chale them; and they fhall flee, as fleeing from a fword; and they fball fall when none purtueth.

37 And they shall fail one upon another, as it were before a word, when none purfueth and ye thall have no power to fand betore your enemies.

Concerning vows. 40 If they fhall confefs their iniquity, and the iniquity of their fathers, with their tref pafs which they tcipailed against me, and that also they have walked contrary unto me;

41 And that I alfo have walked contrary unto them, and have brought them into the land of their enemies; it then their uncir. cumcifed hearts be humbled, and they then accept of the punithment of their iniquity

42 Then will I remember my covenant with Jacob, and alfo my covenant with Ifaac, and alfo my covenant with Abraham will i re. member; and I will remember the land.

43 The land alfo fhall be left of them, and fhall enjoy her fabbaths, while the lieth defolate without them: and they fhall accept of the punishment of their iniquity; because, even because they defpifed my judgments, and because their foul abhorred my itatutes.

44 And yet for all that, when they be in the land or their enemies, I will not caft them away, neither will I abhor them, to destroy them utterly, and to break my covenant with them: for I am the LORD their God.

45 But I will for their fakes remember the covenant of their ancestors, whom I brought forth out of the land of Egypt in the fight of the heathen, that I might be their God: I am the LORD.

46 These are the ftatutes and judgments and laws, which the LORD made between him and the children of Ifrael in mount Sinai, by the hang of Mofes.

CHAP XXVII.

1 Concerning vows. 28 No devoted thing may be redeemed. 32 The tithe may not be changed.

AND the LORD fpake unto Mofes, faying,

2 Speak unto the children of Ifrael, and fay unto them, When a man thall make a fingular vow, the pertons ball be for the LORD by thy eftimation.

3 And thy eftimation shall be, of the male from twenty years old even unto fixty years old, even thy estimation fhall be fity thekels or filver, after the thekel of the fanctuary.

4 And if it be a female, then thy entima. . tion fhall be thirty hekels.

5 And it it be from five years old even unto twenty years old, then thy eftimation thall be of th male twenty fhekels, and for the female ten fhekels.

6 And if it be trom a month old even unto nve years old. then thy eftimation fhall be of the male five fhekels of filver, and for the female thy eftimation jail be three thekels of filver.

7 And it it be from fixty years old and above; it it be a male, then thy estimation thall be fitteen thekels, and for the female ten thekels.

8 But if he be poorer than thy estimation, then he fhall prefent himfelt before the prieft, and the priest shall value him .according to his ability that vowed shall the prieit value hira.

9 And it it be a beaft, whereof men bring an offering unto the LORD, all that any man giveth of fuch unto the LORD thail be holy.

10 He shall not alter it, nor change it, a good for a bad, or a bad for a good and if he thall at all change beaft tor beat; then it and the exchange thereof shall be holy.

11 And it be any unclean beait, of which they do not ofter a facrifice unto the LORD; then he thall present the beast before the priest

14 And when a man fhall fanétity his houfe to be holy unto the LORD; then the prieft fhall eftimate it, whether it be good or bad as the priest shall eftimate it, so hall it ftand.

15 And if he that fanétified it will redeem his houfe, then he thal! add the fith part of the money of thy estimation unto it, and it fhall be his.

16 And if a man fhall fanctify unto the LORD fome part of a field of his poffethion; then thy eftimation shall be according to the feed thereof an homer of barley feed ball be valued at fifty fhekels of filver.

18 But if he fanctify his field after the jubile, then the priest thali reckon unto him the money according to the years that remain, even unto the year of the juhile, and it shall be abated from thy estimation.

19 And if he that fanétified the field will in any wife redeem it; then he shall add the fifth part of the money or thy eftimation unto it, and it shall be affured to him.

20 And if he will not redeem the field, or if he have fold the field to another man, it Thall not be redeemed any more.

21 But the field, when it goeth out in the jubile, fhall be holy unto the LORD, as a field devoted the poffeifion thereof shall be the prief's.

22 And if a man fanétify unto the LORD a field which he hath bought, which is not of the fields of his poffeffion;

23 Then the priest thall reckon unto him the worth or thy cftimation, even unto the year of the jubile: and he shall give thine

24 In the year of the jubile the field shall return unto him of whom it was bought, even to him to whom the poffettion of the land dia belong.

25 And all thy estimations fhall be according to the thekel of the fanctuary twenty gerahs thall be the thekel.

26 Only the firuling of the beafts, which .fhould be the LORD's firitling, no man thall fancity it: whether it be ox or theep, it is the Lokn's.

27 And if it be of an unclean beaft, then he thall redeem it according to thine etti mation, and shall add a fifth part of it the reto: or if it be not redeemed, then it fhal! be fold according to thy estimation.

28 Notwithstanding, no devoted thing that a man thall devote unto the LORD, of all that he hath, both or man and beaft, and of the field of his posetion, thall be fold or redeemed: every devoted thing is most holy unte the LORD.

29 None devoted, which shall be devoted of men, thall be redeemed; but shall surely be put to death.

30 And all the tithe of the land, whether of the feed of the land, or of the fruit of the tree, is the LORD's: it is holy unto the Lord.

31 And if a man will at all redeem aught of his tithes, he thall and thereto the firth part thereof.

32 And concerning the tithe of the herd, or of the flock, even of whatfoever paffeth under the rod, the tenth thall be holy unto the LORD.

33 He shall not fearch whether it be good or bad, neither thall he change it; and if he change it at all, then both it and the change thereof thall be holy; it fhall not

be redeemed.

34 Thefe are the commandments which the LORD commanded Mofes for the chil dren of Ifrael in mount Sinai.

AND the LORD fpake unto Mofes in the wildernefs of Sinai, in the tabernacle of the congregation, on the first day of the fecond month, in the fecond year after they were come cut of the land of Egypt, faying,

2 Take ye the fum of all the congregation of the children of Ifrael, a ter their tamilies, by the houfe of their fathers, with the number of their names, every male by their poll;

3 From twenty years old and upward, all that are able to go torth to war in Ifrael: thou and Aaron thall number them by their

8 Of Iffachar; Nethaneel, the son of Zuar. 9 Of Zebulun; Eliab, the fon of Helon.

17¶ And Mofes and Aaron took these men which are expreffed by their names:

18 And they aflembled all the congrega. tion together on the first day of the fecond month and they declared their pedigrees after their tamilies, by the house of their fathers, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, by their poll.

28 Of the children of Ifachar, by their generations, after their families, by the houfe of their fathers, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war; 29 Thofe that were numbered of them, even of the tribe of 1ffachar, were fifty and four thousand and four hundred.

30 Of the children of Zebulun, by their generations, after their families, by the houfe of their fathers, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war;

31 Thofe that were numbered of them, even of the tribe of Zebulus, were fifty and feven thousand and four hundred.

38Of the children of Dan, by their ge nerations, after their families, by the house of their fathers, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and up. ward, all that were able to go forth to war;

40 Of the children of Ather, by their ge nerations, after their families, by the houfe of their fathers, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war; 41 Thofe that were numbered of them. even of the tribe of After, were forty and one thousand and five hundred.

42 Of the children or Naphtali, through. out their generations, after their families, by the house of their fathers, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war;

43 Thofe that were numbered of them, even of the trioe of Naphtali, were fifty and three thousand and tour hundred.

44 Thefe are those that were numbered, which Mofes and Aaron numbered, and the princes of Ifrael, being twelve men: each one was for the house of his fathers.

45 So were all thofe that were numbered of the children of Ifrael, by the house of their fathers, from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war in Ifrael;

46 Even all they that were numbered, were fix hundred thousand and three thousand and five hundred and fifty.

47¶ But the Levites, after the tribe of their fathers, were not numbered among them. 48 For the LORD had spoken unto Mofes, faying,

49 Only thou shalt not number the tribe of Levi, neither take the fum of thern among the children of Ifrael;

so But thou thait appoint the Levites over the tal ernacle of teftimony, and over all the vehels thereof, and over all things that belong to it: they shall bear the tabernacle, and all the veffels thereof, and they shall mi. nifter unto it, and hall encamp round about the tabernacle.

51 And when the tabernacle fetteth forward, the Levites fhall take it down; and when the tabernacle is to be pitched, the Levites hall fet it up: and the franger that cometh nigh fhall be put to death.

52 And the children of Ifrael fhall pitch their tents, every man by his own camp, and every man by his own fandard, throughout their hofts.

53 But the Levites fhall pitch round about the tabernacle of teftimony, that there be no wrath upon the congregation of the chil dren of Ifrael: and the Levites thall keep the charge of the tabernacle of teftimony.

54 And the children of Ifrael did accord. ing to all that the LORD commanded Moles, fo did they. E CHAP.

ND the LORD fpake unto Mofes and unto

2 Every man of the children of Ifrael hall pitch by his own ftandard, with the enign of their father's houfe: far off about the ta bernacle of the congregation fhall they pitch. 3 And on the east ide, toward the rifing of the fun, thall they of the ftandard of the canip of Judah pitch, throughout their armies and Nahthon the fon of Amminadab tall be captain of the children of Judah.

4 And his hoft, and thofe that were numbered of them, were threescore and fourteen thousand and fix hundred.

S And those that do pitch next unto him falt be the tribe of lifachar: and Nethaneel the foa of Zuar shall be captain of the children of Iffachar.

6 And his host, and those that were numbered thereof, were fifty and four thousand and four hundred.

7 Then the tribe of Zebulun: and Eliab, the fon of Helon, fall be captain of the children of Zebulun.

8 And his hoft, and those that were numbered thereof, were fifty and fevea thoâfand and four hundred.

9 All that were numbered in the camp of Judah were an hundred thousand and fourfcore thousand and fix thousand and four hundred, throughout their armies: thefe fhall firft fet forth.

10 On the fouth fide shall be the standard of the camp of Reuben, according to their armies: and the captain of the children of Reuben ball be Elizur, the fon of Shedeur

11 And his hoft, and thofe that were numbered thereof, were torty and fix thousand and five hundred.

12 And those which pitch by him all be the tribe of Simeon: and the captain of the children of Simeon bail be Shelumiel the fon of Zurifhaddai.

13 And his hoft, and those that were numbered of them, were fifty and nine thousand and three hundred.

14 Then the tribe of Gad: and the captain of the fons of Gad ball be Eliafaph the fon of Reuel.

15 And his hoft, and thofe that were numbered of them, were forty and five thousand and fix hundred and fifty.

ró All that were numbered in the camp of Reuben were an hundred thousand and fifty and one thousand and four hundred and fitty, throughout their armies: and they hall fet forth in the fecond rank.

17 Then the tabernacle of the congrega. tion thall fet forward, with the camp of the Levites in the mid of the camp: as they encamp fo fhall they fet forward, every man in his place, by their ftandards.

18On the weft fide fhall be the standard of the camp of Ephraim, according to their armies: and the captain of the fons of Ephraim all be Elithama the fon of Ammihud.

19 And his hot, and those that were numbered of them, were forty thousand and five undred.

20 And by him fall be the tribe of Ma. na Teh and the captain of the children of Manaffeh all be Gamaliel the fon of PeNaur.

22 Then the tribe of Benjamin: and the captain of the fons of Benjamin shall be Abidan the fon of Gideoni.

23 And his hoft, and thofe that were numbered of them, were thirty and five thou fand and four hundred.

24 All that were numbered of the camp of Ephraim were an hundred thousand and eight thousand and an hundred, throughout their armies: and they thall go forward in the third rank.

25 The standard of the camp of Dan hall be on the north fide by their armies : and the captain of the children of Dan all be Ahiezer the son of Ammishaddai. 26 And his hott, and thofe that were numbered of them, were threefcore and two thousand and feven hundred.

27 And thofe that encamp by him shall be. the tribe of Ather: and the captain of the children of Ather shall be Pagiel the son of Ocran.

28 And his hoft, and thofe that were numbered of them, were forty and one thousand and five hundred.

29 Then the tribe of Naphtali: and the captain of the children of Naphtali ball be Ahira, the fon of Enan.

30 And his hoft, and those that were numbered of them, were fifty and three thousand and four hundred.

31 All they that were numbered in the camp of Dan were an hundred thousand and fity and feven thousand and fix hundred: they fhall go hindmoft with their ftandards.

32 These are those which were numbered of the children of lfrael, by the houfe of their fathers: all thofe that were numbered of the camps, throughout their hofts, were. fix hundred thousand and three thousand and five hundred and fifty.

33 But the Levites were not numbered among the children of Ifrael; as the Lord commanded Mofes.

34 And the children of Ifrael did according
to all that the LORD commanded Mofes :
fo they pitched by their standards; and fo
they fet forward, every one after their tami.
CHAP. III.

THESE alfo are the generations of Aaron

2 And there are the names of the fons of Aaron; Nadab the firft-born, and Abihu, Eleazar, and Ithamar.

3 Thefe are the names of the fons of Aa, ron, the priests which were anointed, whom he confecrated to minister in the priest's office. 4 And Nadab and Abihu died before the LORD, when they offered ftrange fire before the LORD in the wilderness of Sinai, and they had no children: and Eleazar and Ithamar ministered in the priest's office in the fight of Aaro. their father.

5. And the LORD fpake unto Mofes, faying,

Bring the tribe of Levi near, and pre fent them before Aaron the priest, that they may minifter unto him.
