The captivity foretold.

Chap.

9 Behold, I will fend and take all the families of the north, faith the LORD, and Nebuchadrezzar the king of Babylon, my fervant, and will bring them againft this land, and against the inhabitants thereof, and against all thefe natious round about, and will utterly destroy them, and make them an astonishment, and an hitfing, and perpetual defolations.

10 Moreover, I will take from them the voice of mirth, and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom, and the voice of the bride, the found of the millstones, and the light of the canile.

11 And this whole land fhall be a defolation, and an aftonishment; and thefe nations shall serve the king of Babylon feventy years.

12¶And it fhall come to pafs, when feventy years are accomplished, that I will punih The king of Bab, ion, and that nation, faith she LORD, for their iniquity, and the land of the Chaldeans, and will make it perpe. tual defolations.

13 And I will bring upon that land all my words which I have pronounced against it, even all that is written in this book, which Jeremiah hath prophesied against all

the nations.

14 For many nations and great kings Shall ferve themselves of them alfo: and I will recompenfe them according to their dee is, and according to the works of their own hands.

For thus faith the LORD God of If rael unto me; Take the wine cup of this fury at my hand, and caufe all the nations to whom I fend thee to drink it.

16 And they shall drink, and be moved, and be mad, because of the fword that I will fend among them.

17 Then took I the cup at the LORD's hand, and made all the nations to drink, unto whom the LORD had fent me:

18 To wit, Jerufalem, and the cities of Julah, and the kings thereof, and the princes thereof, to make them a defolation, an aftonishment, an hilling, and a curfe; as it is this day;

19 Pharaoh king of Egypt, and his fervants, and his princes, and all his people;

20 And all the mingled people, and all the kings of the land of Uz, and all the kings of the land of the Philistines, and Ashkelon, and Azzah, and Ekron, and the remnant of Ashdod,

21 Edom, and Moab, and the children of Ammon,

And all the kings of Tyrus, and all the kings of Zidor, and the kings of the ifles which are beyond the fea,

23 Dedan, and Tema, and Buz, and all that are in the utmost corners,

24 And all the kings of Arabia, and all the kings or the mingled peopic that dwell in the defert,

25 And all the kings of Zimri, and al the kings of Elam, and all the kings of the Medes,

26 And all the kings of the north, far and near, one with another, and all the kingdoms of the world, which are upon the face of the earth and the king of Shethach thall drink after them.

27 Therefore thou shalt fay unto them,

xxvi. Thus faith the LORD of hosts, the God of Ifrael; Drink ye and be drunken, and fpue, and fall, and rife no more, becaufe of the fword which I will fend among you.

Exhortation to repentance.

28 And it shall be, if they refuse to take the cup at thine hand to drink, then thalt thou fay unto them, Thus faith the LORD of hofts; Ye shall certainly drink.

29 For, lo, I begin to bring evil on the city which is called by my name, and thould ye be utterly unpunished? Ye shall not be unpunished: for I will call for a fword upon all the inhabitants of the earth, faith the LORD of hosts.

30 Therefore prophefy thou against them all these words, and fay unto them, The LORD fhall roar from on high, and utter his voice from his holy habitation; he hall mightily rear upon his habitacion; he thail give a fhout, as they that tread the grapes, against all the inhabitants of the earth.

31 A noife thall come even to the ends of the earth; for the LORD hath a controverfy with the nations, he will plead with all fieth: he will give them that are wicked to the word, faith the LORD.

32 Thus faith the LORD of hosts, Behold, evil thall go forth from nation to nation, and a great whirlwind fhall be raised up from the coafts of the earth.

33 And the flain of the LORD fhall be at that day trem one end of the earth even unto the other ead of the earth: they fhall not be lamented, neither gathered, nor buried; they thall be dung upon the ground.

34 Howl, ye thepherds, and cry; and wallow yourselves in the afbes, ye principal of the Rock: for the days of your laughter and of your difperfions are accomplished; and ye thall fall like a pleafant veel.

35 And the thepher is thall have no way to fee, nor the principal of the flock to escape.

36 A voice of the cry of the shepherds, and an howling of the principal of the flock, feal! be beard: for the LORD hath spoiled, their pasture.

37 And the peaceable habitations are cut down, becaufe of the fierce anger of the LORD.

38 He hath forfaken his covert as the lion for their land is defolare, becaufe of the fiercenefs of the oppreffor, and because of his fierce anger.

akin the fon of Jofiah king of Judah, came this word from the LORD, faying,

2 Thus faith the LORD; Stand in the court of the LORD's houfe, and fpeak unto all the cities of Judah, which come to worship in the LORD's noufe, all the words that I command thee to fpeak unto them; diminish not a

word:

3 If fo he they will hearken, and turn every man from his evil way, that I may repent me of the evil, which I purpofe to do unto them, because of the evil of their doings.

4 And thou shalt fay unto them, Thus faith the LORD, If ye will not hearken to me, to walk in my law, which I have fet before you,

Jeremiah apprehended.

JEREMIAH.

s To hearken to the words of mv fervants the prophets, whom I fent onto you, both riting up early, and fending them, but ye have not hearkened;

Then will I make this houfe like Shiloh, and will make this city a curfe to all the

nations of the earth.

7 So the priests and the prophets and all the people heard Jeremiah speaking thefe words

in the house of the LORD.

8 Now it came to pafs, when Jeremiah had made an end of fpeaking all that the LORD had commanded him to fpeak unto all the people, that the priests and the prophets, and all the people, took him, faying, Then thalt farely die.

9 Why haft thou prophefied in the name of the LORD, faying, This houfe thall be like Shiloh, and this city fhall be defolate without an inhabitant? And all the people were gathered against Jeremiah in the houfe of the LORD.

10 When the princes of Judah heard thefe things, then they came up from the

king's houfe unto the house of the LORD,' and fat down in the entry of the new gate of the LORD's house.

11 Then fake the priests and the prophets unto the princes and to all the people, faying, This man is worthy to die: for he hath prophefied against this city, as ye have heard with

your ears.

12 Then fpake Jeremiah unto all the princes, and to all the people, faying, The LORD fent me to prophely against this houfe, and against this city, all the words that ye have heard.

13 Therefore now amend your ways and your doings, and obey the voice of the LORD your God; and the LORD will repent him of the evil that he hath pronounced against you.

14 As for me, behold, I am in your hand: do with me as feemeth good and meet unto you.

15 But know ye for certain, that if ye put me to death, ye thall furely bring innocent blood upon yourselves, and upon this city, and upon the inhabitants thereof: for of a truth the LORD hath fent me unto you, to fpeak all thefe words in your ears.

16 Then aid the princes and all the people unto the pricfts and to the prophets, This man is not worthy to die: for he hath fpoken to us in the name of the LORD our God.

17 Then rofe up certain of the elders of the land, and fpake to all the affembly of the people, faying,

18 Micah the Morathite prophesied in the days of Hezekiah king of fudah, and fpake to all the people of Judah, faying, Thus faith the LORD of hosts; Zion fhall be plowed like a field, and Jerufalem thall become hears, and the mountain of the house as the high places of a foret.

19 Did Hezekiah king of Judah and all Judah put him at all to death? Did he not fear the LORD, and befought the LORD, and the LORD repented him of the evil which he had pronounced against them! Thus might we procure great evil against our fouls.

25 And there was alfo a man that prophefied in the name of the LORD, Urijah, the fon of Shemaiah of Kirjathjearim, who

Babylon's yake. prophesied against this city, and against this land, according to all the words of Jeremiah:

21 And when Jehoiakim the king, with all his mighty men, and all the princes, heard his words, the king fought to put him to death: but when Urijah heard it, he was afraid, and fled, and went into Egypt;

22 And Jehoiakim the king lent men into Egypt, namely, Elnathan the fon of Achbor, and certain men with him into Egypt.

23 And they fetched forth Urijah out of Egypt, and brought him unto Jehoiakim the king; who flew him with the fword, and caft his dead body into the graves of the common people.

24 Nevertheless, the hand of Ahikam the fon of shaphan was with Jeremiah, that they should not give him into the hand of the people to put him to death.

CHAP XXVII.

Under the type of bands and rates be propheheth the fubduing of the neighbour Rings unts Nebuchadnezzar,

Nim the fon of Jofiah king of Judah the beginning of the reign of Jehoiacame this word unto Jeremiah from the LORD, faying,

2 Thus faith the LORD to me; Make thee bonds and yokes, and put them upon thy neck,

3 And fend them to the king of Edom, and to the king of Moab, and to the king of the Ammonites, and to the king of Tyrus, and to the king of Zidon, by the hand of the meffengers which come to Jerufalem unco Zedekiah king of Judah;

4 And command them to fay unto their mafters, Thus faith the LORD of hosts, the God of Ifrael, thus thall ye fay unto your mafters;

5I have made the earth, the man and the beat that are upon the ground, by my great power, and by my outftretched arm and have given it unto whom it seemned

neet uato me.

6 And now have I given all thefe lands into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon, my fervant, and the beasts of the field have I given him alfo to ferve him.

7 And all nations thall ferve him, and his fon, and his fon's fon, until the very time of his land come: and then many nations and great kings hail ferve themfelves of him.

8 And it shall come to país, that the na tion and kingdom which will not ferve the fame Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon, and that will not put their neck under the yoke of the king of Babylon, that na tion will I punith, faith the LORD, with the fword, and with the famine, and with the petilence, until I have confumed them by his hand.

Therefore hearken not ye to your pro phets, nor to your diviners, nor to your dreamers, nor to your enchanters, nor to your forcerers, which fpeak unto you, fay ing, Ye thall not ferve the king of Babylon":

to For they prophely a lie unto you, to remove you far from your land; and that I should drive you out, and ye fhould perish.

11 But the nations that bring their neck under the yoke of the king of Babylon, and ferve him, thofe will I let remain till in their own land, faith the LORD; and they thall till it, and dwell therein.

Hananiah's falle prophecy. Chap. xxviii, xxİK.

12 fpake alfo to Zedekiah king of udah according to all these words, faying, Bring your necks under the yoke of the king of Babylon, and ferve him and his people, and live.

13 Why will ye die, thou and thy people, by the fword, by the famine, and by the peftilence, as the LORD hath spoken against the nation that will not ferve the king of Babylon?

14 Therefore hearken not unto the words of the prophets that fpeak unto you, fay ing, Ye shall not ferve the king of Babylon: for they prophefy a lie unto you.

15 For I have not fent them, faith the LORD, yet they prophesy a lie in my name; that I might drive you out, and that ye might perith, ye, and the prophets that pro phefy unto you.

16 Alle I fpake to the priefts and to all this people, faying, Thus faith the LORD; Hearken not to the words of your prophets that prophefy unto you, faying, Behold, the veffels of the LORD'S houfe thall now thortly be brought again from Babylon: for they prophesy a lie unto you.

17 Hearken not unto them; ferve the king of Babylon, and live: wherefore thould this city be laid waste?

18 But if they be prophets, and if the word of the LORD be with them, let them now make intercettion to the LORD of hofs, that the veffels which are left in the houfe of the LORD, and in the houfe of the king of Judah, and at Jerufalem, go not to babylon.

19 For thus faith the LORD of hosts concerning the pillars, and concerning the fea, and concerning the bafes, and concerning the refidue of the veifels that remain in this city,

20 Which Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon took not, when he carried away captive Jeconiah, the fon of Jehoiakim king of Ju» dah from Jerufalem to Babylon, and all the nobles of Judah and Jerufalem;

21 Yea, thus faith the LORD of hosts, the God of Ifrael, concerning the veffels that remain in the houfe of the LORD, and in the houfe of the king of Judah and of Jerufalem;

22 They thall be carried to Babylon, and there thail they be until the day that I vifit them, faith the LORD; then will I bring them up, and restore them to this place.

CHAP. XXVIII.

› Hananiah's false prophecy: 10 be breaketh Jeremiah's yoke. 12 feremiah foretelleth of an iron yoke, 15 and Hananiah's death.

AND it came to pass the fame year in the beginning of the reign of Zedekiah king of Judah, in the fourth year, and in the fifth month, that Hanania the fon of Azur the prophet, which was of Gibeon,

spake unto me in the house of the LORD; in the prefence of the priests and of all the people, faying,

2 Thus fpeaketh the LORD of hofts, the God of Ifrael, faying, I have broken the yoke of the king of Babylon.

3 Within two full years will I bring again into this place all the veffels of the LORD'S houfe, that Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon took away from this place, and carried them to Babylon:

4 And I will bring again to this place Jeconiah the son of Jehoiakim king of Judah,

Feremiah's letter. with all the captives of Judah, that went into Babylon, faith the LORD: for I will break the yoke of the king of Babylon.

5 Then the prophet Jeremiah faid unto the prophet Hananiah in the prefence of the pricits, and in the prefence of all the people that flood in the houfe of the LORD,

6 Even the prophet Jeremiah said, Amen : the LORD do fo: the LORD perform thy words which thou haft prophened, to bring again the veffels of the LORD's houfe, and all that is carried away captive, from Babylon into this place.

7 Nevertheless, hear thou now this word that I fpeak in thine ears, and in the ears of all the people;

8 The prophets that have been before me and before thee of old prophefied both against many countries, and against great kingdoms, of war, and of evil, and of pettilence.

9 The prophet which prophefieth of peace, when the word of the prophet fhall come to pafs, then thall the prophet be known that the LORD hath truly fent him.

10 Then Hananiah the prophet took the yoke from off the prophet Jeremiah's neck, and brake it.

11 And Hananiah pake in the presence of all the people, faying, Thus faith the LORD; Even fo will I break the yoke of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon from the neck of all nations within the space of two full years. And the prophet Jeremiah went his way.

12 Then the word of the LORD came unto Jeremiah the prophet, after that Hana niah the prophet had broken the yoke from off the neck of the prophet Jeremiah, faying,

13 Go, and tell Hananiah, faying, Thus faith the LORD; Thou haft broken the yokes of wood; but thou shalt make for them yokes of iron.

14 For thus faith the LORD of hosts, the God of Ifrael; I have put a yoke of iron upon the neck of all these nations, that they may ferve Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon; and they fhall ferve him and I have given him the beasts of the field alfo.

15Then faid the prophet Jeremiah unto Hananiah the prophet, Hear now, Hananiah; The LORD hath not fent thee, but thou makeft this people to truft in a lie.

16 Therefore thus faith the LORD; Be hold, I will caft thee from off the face of the earth: this year thou shalt die, because thou haft taught rebellion against the LORD.

17 So Hananiah the prophet died the fame

year, in the feventh month.

CHAP. XXIX. 1 Jeremiah's letter to the captives in Babylon 20 The fearful end of Abab and Zedekiab, two lying prophets.

Now these are the words of the letter that Jeremiah the prophet fent from Jerufalem unto the refidue of the elders which were carried away captives, and to the priefts, and to the prophets, and to all the people whom Nebuchadnezzar had carried away captive from Jerufalem to Babylon.

2 (After that Jeconiah the king, and the queen, and the eunuchs, the princes of Ju dah and Jerufalem, and the carpenters, and the fmiths, were departed from Jerufalem,)

3 By the hand of Elafah the fon of Shaphan, and Gemariah the fog of Hilkiab, (whom Ze.

Feremiah's letter.

JEREMIAH. The Jews' return, dekiah king of Judah fent unto Babylon to Zedekiah the fun of Maafeiah, which prophe. Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon,) faying, fy a lie unto you is my name; Behold, I will

4 Thus faith the LORD of hotts, the God of Ifrael, unto all that are carried away captives, whom I have caufed to be carried away from Jerufalem unto Babylon;

5 Build ye houtes, and dwell in them; and plant gardens, and eat the fruit of them;

6 Take ye wives, and beget fons and daughters; and take wives for your fons, and give your daughters to hutbands, that they may bear tons and daughters; that ye may be in. creafed there, and not diminished.

7 And feek the peace of the city whither I have caused you to be carried away captives, and pray unto the LORD for it: for in the peace thereof shall ye have peace.

8 For thus faith the LORD of hosts, the God of Ifrael; Let not your prophets and your diviners, that be in the midft of you, deceive you, neither hearken to your dreams which ye caufe to be dreamed.

For they prophesy falfely unto you in my name: I have not fent them, faith the LORD.

10 For thus faith the LORD, That after feventy years be accomplished at Babylon I will visit you, and perform my good word toward you, in caufing you to return to this place.

11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, faith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.

12 Then thall ye call upon me, and ye fhall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you.

13 And ye fhall feek me, and find me, when ye thail fearch for me with all your heart.

14 And I will be found of you, faith the LORD: and I will turn away your captivity, and I will gather you from all the nations, and from all the places whither I have driven you, faith the LORD; and I will bring you again into the place whence I caufed you to be carried away captive.

15 Becaufe ye have faid, The LORD hath raised us up prophets in Babylon;

16 Know that thus faith the LORD of the king that sitteth upon the throne of David, and of all the people that dwelleth in this city, and of your brethren that are not gone forth with you into captivity;

17 Thus faith the LORD of hofts; Behold, I will fend upon then the fword, the fa mine, and the peftilence, and will make them like vile figs, that cannot be eaten, they are fo evil.

18 And I will perfecute them with the fword, with the famine, and with the peftilence, and will deliver them to be removed to all the kingdoms of the earth, to be a curfe, and an altonifhment, and an hing, and a reproach, among all the nations whither I have driven them.

19 Because they have not hearkened to my words, faith the LORD, which I fent unto them by my fervants the prophets, rising up early and fending them; but ye would not hear, faith the LORD.

20 Hear ye therefore the word of the LORD, all ye of the captivity, whom I have fent from Jerufalem to Babylon:

21 Thus faith the LORD or hofts, the God of Ifrael, of Ahab the fon of Kolaiah, and of

deliver them into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon; and he thall flay them before your eyes;

22 And of them shall be taken up a curfe by all the captivity of Judah which are in Babylon, faying, The LORD make thee hike Zedekiah and like Ahab, whom the King of Babylon 1oated in the fire;

23 Because they have committed villany in frael, and have committed adultery with their neighbours wives, and have spoken lying words in my name, which I have not commanded them; even I know, and cm a witnefs, faith the LORD.

247bus fhalt thou alfo fpeak to She. maiah the Nehelamite, faying,

25 Thus fpeaketh the LORD of hosts, the God of Ifrael, faying, Because thou haft fent letters in thy name unto all the people that are at Jerufalem, and to Zephaniah the fon of Maafeiah the pricft, and to all the priests, laying,

26 The LORD hath made thee prieft in the ftead of Jehoiada the priest, that ye should be officers in the houfe of the LORD, for eve ry man that is mad, and maketh himself a prophet, that thou thouldest pat him in prifon, and in the stocks.

27 Now therefore why haft thou not re proved Jeremiah of Anathoth, which maketh himself a prophet to you?

28 For therefore he fent unto us in Babylon, faying, This captivity is long; build ye houses, and dwell in them; and plant gasdens, and eat the fruit of them.

29 And Zephaniah the pr A read this letter in the ears of Jeremiah the prophet.

30 Then came the word of the LORD unto Jeremiah, aying,

31 Send to all them of the captivity, faying. Thus faith the LORD concerning Shemaiah the Nehelamite; Because that Shemaiah hath prophesied unto you, and I fent him not, and he caufed you to truit in a lie:

32 Therefore thus faith the LORD; Behold, I will punth Shemaiah the Nehelamite, and his feed: he thail not have a man to dwell among this people; neither thall he behold the good that I will do for my people, faith the LORD; because he hath taught rebellion against the LORD.

CHAP. XXX.

1 The Jews' return. 10 Jacob comforted 18 Their return shall be gracious.

THE word that came to Jeremiah from the LORD, faying,

2 Thus fpeaketh the LORD God of Ifrael, faying, Write thee all the words that I have fpoken unto thee in a book.

3 For, lo, the days come, faith the LORD; that I will bring again the captivity of my people Ifrael and Judah, faith the LORD: and I will cause them to return to the land that I gave to their fathers, and they shall poffefs it.

4 And these are the words that the LORD fpake concerning Ifrael and concerning Judah.

5 For thus faith the LORD; We have heard a voice of trembling, of fear, and not of peace. 6 Aik ye now, and fee whether a man doth travail with child? Wherefore do fee every man with his hauds on his loins, as a wo

man

Jacob comforted.

The refloration of Ifrael. wind: it fhall fall with pain upon the head of the wicked.

Chap. xxxi. man in travail, and all faces are turned into palenefs?

7 Alas! for that day is great, fo that none is like it: it is even the time of Jacob's trouble; but he thall be faved out of it.

8 Fer it hall come to pafs in that day, faith the LORD of hosts, that I will break his yoke from off thy Reck, and will burit thy bonds, and strangers shall no more ferve themselves of him:

But they shall ferve the LORD their God, and David their king, whom I will raise up

unto them.

10 Therefore fear thou not, O my fervant Jacob, faith the LORD; neither be dismayed, OIfrael: for, lo, I will fave thee from atar, and thy feed from the land of their captivity; and Jacob hall return, and thall be in reit, and quiet, and none thall make bin. aitaid.

11 For I am with thee, faith the LORD, to fave thee: though I make a full end of all nations whither I have fcattered thee, yet will I not make a full end of thee: but I will correct thee in mcafure, and will not leave thee altogether unpunished.

12 For thus faith the LORD, Thy bruise is Incurable, and thy wound is grievous.

13 There is none to plead thy cause, that thou mayeit be bound up: thou hast no healing medicines.

14 All thy lovers have forgotten thee: they feek thee not: for I have wounded thee with the wound of an enemy, with the chattisement of a cruci one, for the multitude of thine iniquity; because thy fins were increated.

Is Why criet thou for thine affliction? Thy forrow, is incurable for the multitude of thine iniquity: because thy fins were in creased, I have done these things unto thee. 16 Therefore all they that devour thee hall be devoured; and all thine adverfaries, every one of them, thali go into captivity; and they that fpoil thee fhall be a fpoil, and all that prey upon thee will I give for a prey. 17 For I will rettore health unto thee, and I will heal thee of thy wounds, faith the LORD; becaufe they called thee an Outcaft, faying, This is Zion, whom no man feek. eth after.

18 Thus faith the LORD; Behold, I will bring again the captivity of Jacob's tents, and have mercy on his dwelling places; and the city thall be builded upon her own heap, and the palace fhall remain after the

manner thereof.

19 And out of them thall proceed thanks giving and the voice of them that make merry: and I will multiply them, and they fhall not be few; I will also glorify them, and they shall not be small.

24 Their children alfo fhall be as aforetime, and their congregation fhall be eftablifhed before me, and I will punith all that Oppress them.

at And their nobles thall be of themfelves, and their governor thall proceed from the midft of them and I will caufe him to draw near, and he thall approach unto me: for who is this that engaged his heart to approach untc me, faith the LORD.

22 And ye shall be my people, and I will be your Got,

23 Behold, the whirlwind of the LORD goeth forth with fury, a continuing whirl.

24 The fierce anger of the LORD shall not return, until he have done it, and until he have performed the intents of his heart: in the latter days ye shall confider it.

CHAP. XXXI.

1 The reporation of Ifrael. 22 Chrift promifed: 27 bis care over the church.

AT the fame time, faith the LORD, will I be the God of all the tamilies of 11racl, and they shall be my people.

2 Thus faith the LORD, The people which were left of the fword found grace in the wilderness; even Ifrael, when I went to caufe him to reft.

3 The LORD hath appeared of old unto me, faying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindnets have I drawn thee.

4 Again I will build thee, and thou fhalt be built, O virgin of Ifrael: thou thalt a gain be adorned with thy tabrets, and thalt go forth in the dances of them that make merry.

5 Thou shalt yet plant vines upon the mountains of Samaria: the planters thall plant, and shall eat them as common things.

6 For there thall be a day, that the watch. men upon the mount Ephraim shall cry, Arife ye, and let us go up to Zion unto the LORD our God.

7 For thus faith the LORD; Sing with glad. nefs for Jacob, and thout among the chief of the nations: publish ye, praife ye, and fay, O LORD, fave thy people, the remnant of Ifrael.

8 Behold I will bring them from the north country, and gather them from the coafts of the earth, and with them the blind and the lanie, the woman with child and her that travaileth with child together: a great com. pany thall return thither.

9 They thall come with weeping, and with fupplications will I lead them: I will caufe them to walk by the rivers of waters in a ftraight way, wherein they thali not stumble: for i am a father to Ifrael, and Ephraim is my firft born.

10 Hear the word of the LORD, O ye nations, and declare it in the ifles afar off, and fay, He that fcattered Ifrae: will ga ther him, and keep him, as a shepherd doth his fleck.

11 For the LORD hath redeemed Jacob, and ranfomed him from the hand of him that was stronger than he.

12 Therefore they shall come and fing in the height of Zion, and thall flow together to the goodness of the LORD, for wheat, and for wine, and for oil, and for the young of the flock, and of the herd; and their foul fhall be as a watered garden; and they fhall not forrow any more at all.

13 Then shall the virgin rejoice in the dance, both young men and old together: for I will turn their mourning into joy, and will comfort them, and make them rejoice from their forrow.

14 And I will fatiate the foul of the priests with fatnefs, and my people thall be fatif. fied with my goodnefs, faith the LORD.

15 Thus faith the LORD; A voice was heard in Ramah, lamentation, and bitter weeping; Rachel weeping for her children,
