(2) v. 8. “ Thou forgavest, &c.” This probably refers to what occurred upon the making of the golden calf, when God would have destroyed the people, but for the intercession of Moses, and Moses burnt the calf, and ground it to powder, and strewed it on the water, and made the children of Israel drink thereof. See Exod. xxxii. 10. 20.
