true and living GOD, in the heavens above and on the earth beneath, and there is none else. What I have written in this book emanates not from me, but are the words of the LORD's messengers, namely, his servants the Prophets, and this I have only done in obedience to the commandments of my CREATOR, blessed be his name, in conformity to the words spoken by Isaiah, xxxv. 3 and 4. "Strengthen ye the weak hands, and confirm the feeble knees. Say to them that are of a fearful heart, be strong, fear not;" for surely our GOD will help us.-Amen.

You see, therefore, O Israel! that help was promised unto us by the words of GOD, which he will surely fulfil: only hearken unto me, for I speak but righteousness, and the expressions of my lips are just; my tongue utters truth, and my words are neither perverse nor froward-they are explicite to men of understanding, and evident to men of knowledge, but hearken not to the Epicureans, for their mouths are filled with deceit, and their hearts are fraught with wickedness.
