אלו עשרת השבטים שהבטיח הקב"ה לגאס לאחרית הימים לעת ביאת המשיח ולהם יהיה הגאולה שניה וזהו שנאמר יוסיף אדוני שנית ידו וכו : כי עשרת השבטים לא שבו מגלותם בבית שני אך בני יהודה ובני בנימין וחצי שבט מנשה היו עלו מגלות בבל : וכן אמר הק"בה ע"י הושע אי ו' כי לא אוסיף עוד ארחם את בית ישרא כי נשא אשא להם: זי ואת בית יהודה ארחם וגו" : אבל לעתיד יוסיף אדוני שנית לקנות אותם אשר ישאר מאשור : ישעי' יא' יב' ונשא נס לגוים ואסף נדחי ישרץ ע"ש שגלו לארץ רחוק, ולזמן ארוך כמו שנאמר הושע ג' ד' כי ימים רבים ישבו בני ישרא וכו : ה' אחר ישובו בני ישרא וכו' לכך אמר נדחי ישרא: ונפוצי יהודה יקבץ מארבע כנפות הארץ וגם מזה תראה שלא שבו עשרת השבטים בבית שני : ואם שבו למה המה אינם בתוך נפוצי יהודה : לא ידוע היא לכל שעשרת השבטים לא שבו כי אם נדחים המה עודנה מאז : וגם יהודה לא היה נפוצים לפני בית שני בארבע כנפות הארץ אך בארץ כשדים בלבד היו : ועל ארץ כשדים איך נוכל לאמר ארבע כנפות הארץ : name ONE:" and not like the present, when an only GoD is not generally acknowledged, but more added to Him. The legislator Moses, the godly servant, cautioned us, Deut. vi. 4." Hear, O Israel: the LORD our God is ONE God!" So believed our forefathers, and so do we; thus the whole human race will believe in an only GOD, at the expiration of those days, when the whole earth will acknowledge an only GoD. So it also is said, that wisdom has spread among the inhabitants of the whole universe, as explains Habakkuk, ii. 13 and 14. " Behold, is it not of the LORD of Hosts that the people shall labour in the very fire, and the people shall weary themselves for very vanity. For the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the LORD," (namely, they will believe in an only GoD,) "as the waters cover the sea." Even so says Jeremiah, xvi. 19. "O LORD my strength and my fortress, and my refuge in the day of affliction, the Gentiles shall come unto Thee from the ends of the earth, and shall say, Surely our fathers have inherited lies, vanities, and things wherein there is no profit : Then all sons of the earth will know that only ONE GOD exists: at that time the Almighty will accomplish his promise, made through the prophet Zephaniah, iii. 9. "For then will I turn to the people a pure language, that they may all call upon the name of the LORD, to serve him with one consent." Isa. xi. 10 and 11. "And in that day there shall be a root of Jesse, which shall stand for an ensign of the people; to it shall the gentiles seek: and his rest shall be glorious. And it shall come to pass in that day, that the LORD shall set his hand again the second time to recover the remnant of his people, which shall be left, from Assyria," &c. עוד לא נמלאה הארץ לדעת שיש רק ה' אחד והם משתתפים ליחידותו עוד : ובאמת לא כן אמר לנו משה עבד ה' דברים . וי די לא כך אמר שמע ישרא ה' אהינו ה' אחד וכו : וכן היו אבותינו מאמינים ביחידותו וכמו כן אנחנו היום וכן תהיה לאחרית הימים כשיכירו וידעו כל יושבי תבל ויאמינו ביחודותו זאת יהיה מלאה הארץ דעה : וכן נאמר חבקוק ב' יג' הלוא הנה מאת ה' צבאות וייגעו עמים בדי אש ולאומים בדי ריק יעפו : ידי כי תמלא הארץ לדעת את כבוד ה' (ר"ל כי יאמינו בכבוד ה' לבדו) כמים מכסים על ים וכו : וכן אמר ירמיה יו' יט' באמרו ה' עוזי ומעוזי ומנוסי ביום צרה איך גוים יבואו מאפסי ארץ ויאמרו אך שקר נחלו אבותינו הבל ואין בם מועיל וגו : אז תמלא הארץ לדעת את ה' לבדו: ובעת ההיא יקום ה' את דבריו אשר נאמר צפניה ג' ט' כי אז אהפוך א עמים שפה ברורה לקרוא כולם בשם ה' (שהוא רק אחד) לעבדו שכם אחד וכו : ישעי' יא' בעת ההיא שורש ישי אשר עומד לנס עמים איו גוים ידרשו והיתה מנוחתו כבוד : יאי והיה ביום ההוא יוסיף אדוני שנית ידו לקנות את שאר עמו אשר ישאר מאשור וכו : &c. &c. &c. SECTION 1. "AND there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a branch shall grow out of his roots." Isa. xi. 1. (The commentator Raschi explains a rod, a sceptre; a branch, a branch of a tree). Ib. 2. "And the Spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him; the spirit of wisdom and understanding," &c. Ib. 4. "And he shall smite the earth with the rod of his mouth; and with the breath of his lips shall he slay the wicked," &c. Ib. 6. "The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid," &c. Ib. 9. " They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain; for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea," &c. The whole of this prophecy is relating to the latter days; and then the whole world will most assuredly acknowledge ONE GOD, and be filled with knowledge; as the Prophet Zechariah says, xiv. 9. "And the LORD shall be king over all the earth ; in that day there shall be ONE LORD, and His |
