PENALTY AGAINST SABBATH BREAKERS.

Exod. xxxi, 14, 15. Ye shall keep the sabbath therefore; for it is holy unto you: every one that defileth it shall surely be put to death: for whosoever doeth any work therein, that soul shall be cut off from among his people. Six days may work be done; but in the seventh is the sabbath of rest, holy to the LORD: whosoever doeth any work in the sabbathday, he shall surely be put to

death.

OTHER HOLY DAYS. Exod. xxili, 14, 17. Three times thou shalt keep a feast unto me in the year. Three times in the year all thy males shall appear before the LORD God.

Exod. xxxiv, 23, 24. Thrice in the year shall all your men-children appear before the Lord GOD, the God of Israel. For I will cast out the nations before thee, and enlarge thy borders: neither shall any man desire thy land, when thou shalt go up to appear before the LORD thy God thrice in the year.

FEAST OF FIRST FRUITS.

you, and shall reap the harvest sheaf of the first-fruits of your thereof, then ye shall bring a harvest unto the priest; And he shall wave the sheaf before the LORD, to be accepted for you: on the morrow after the sabbath the priest shall wave it. And ye shall

offer that day, when ye wave the sheaf, an he-lamb without blemish, of the first year, for a burntoffering unto the LORD. And the meat-offering thereof shall be two tenth-deals of fine flour mingled with oil, an offering made by tire unto the LORD for a sweet savour, and the drink - offering thereof shall be of wine, the fourth part of an hin. And ye shall eat neither bread, nor parched corn, nor that ye have brought an offering green ears, until the selfsame day

These are the feasts of the LORD, which ye shall proclaim to be holy convocations, to offer an offering made by fire unto the LORD, a burnt-offering, and a meat-offering, a sacrifice, and drink-offerings, every thing upon his day; Also in the fifteenth day of the seventh month, when ye have gathered in the fruit of the land, ye shall keep a feast unto the LORD seven days: on the first

day shall be a sabbath, and on
the eighth day shall be a sabbath.
And ye shall take you on the first
day the boughs of goodly trees,
branches of palm trees, and the
boughs of thick trees, and willows
of the brook; and ye shall rejoice
before the LORD your God seven
days. And ye shall keep it a
feast unto the LORD seven days
in the year. It shall be a statute
for ever in your generation: ye
shall celebrate it in the seventh
month. Ye shall dwell in booths
seven days; All that are Israelites
born shall dwell in booths: That
your generations may know that
I made the children of Israel to
dwell in booths, when I brought
them out of the land of Egypt: I
am the LORD your God.

Lev. xxix, 1, 7. And in the
seventh month, on the first day of
the month, ye shall have an holy
convocation; ye shall do no ser-
vile work: it is a day of blowing
the trumpets unto you. And ye
shall have on the tenth day of
this seventh month an holy con-
vocation; aud ye shall afflict your
souls: ye shall not do any work
therein.

Num. xxix, 12. And on the fifteenth day of the seventh month ye shall have an holy convocation; ye shall do no servile work, and ye shall keep a feast unto the LORD seven days.

Deut. xvi, 13-15. Thou shalt ob-
serve the feast of tabernacles
seven days, after that thou hast
gathered in thy corn and thy
wine: And thou shalt rejoice in
thy feast, thou, and thy son, and
thy daughter, and thy man-ser-
vant and thy maid-servant, and
the Levite, the stranger, and the
fatherless, and the widow, that
are within thy gates. Seven days
shalt thou keep a solemn feast
unto the LORD thy God in the
place which the LORD shall choose:
because the LORD thy God shall
bless thee in all thine increase,

hands: therefore thou shalt sure-

Neh. viii, 14-18. And they found
written in the law which the LORD
had commanded by Moses, that
the children of Israel should dwell
in booths in the feast of the
seventh month: and that they
should publish and proclaim in all
their cities, and in Jerusalem,
saying, Go forth unto the mount,
and fetch olive-branches, and pine-
branches, and myrtle-branches,
and palm-branches, and branches
of thick trees, to make booths, as
it is written. So the people went
forth, and brought them, and made
themselves booths, every

their courts, and in the courts of

of the water-gate, and in the street of the gate of Ephraim. And all the congregation of them that were come again out of the captivity made booths, and sat under the booths; for since the days of Jeshua the son of Nun unto that day had not the children of Israel done so: and there was very great gladness. Also day by day, from the first day unto the last day, he read in the book of the law of God: and they kept the feast seven days; and on the eighth day was a solemn assembly, according unto the manner.

Hos. xii, 9. And I, that am the LORD thy God from the land of Egypt, will yet make thee to dwell in tabernacles, as in the days of the solemn feast.

Zech. xiv, 16, 18, 19. And it

shall come to pass, that every one that is left of all the nations which came against Jerusalem shall even go up from year to year to worship the King, the LORD of hosts, and to keep the feast of tabernacles. And if the family of Egypt go not up, and come not, that have no rain, there shall be the plague wherewith the LORD will smite the heathen that come not up to keep the feast of This shall be the tabernacles.

FEAST OF DEDICATION. 2 Chron. vii, 8-10. Also at the same time Solomon kept the feast seven days and all Israel with him, avery great congregation, from the entering in of Hamath unto the river of Egypt. Aud in the eighth day they made a solemn assembly: for they kept the dedication of the altar seven days, and the feast seven days. And on the three and twentieth day of the seventh month he sent the people away into their tents, glad and merry in heart for the goodness that the LORD had shewed unto David, and to Solomon, and to israel his people.

Ezra vi, 16, 17. And the children of Israel, the priests, and the Levites, and the rest of the children of the captivity, kept the dedication of this house of God with joy. And offered at the God dedication of this house o an hundred bullocks, two hundred rams, four hundred lambs; and for a sin-offering for all Israel, twelve he-goats, according to the number

of the tribes of Israel.

John x, 22. And it was at Jerusalem the feast of the dedication, and it was winter.
