= before the LORD, when thou heardest what I spake against this place, and against the inhabitants thereof, that they should become a desolation, and a curse, and hast rent thy clothes, and wept before me; I also have heard thee, saith the LORD. Behold therefore, I will gather thee unto thy fathers, and thou shalt be gathered into thy grave in peace, and thine eyes shall not see all the evil which I will bring upon this place. And they brought the king word again. 2 Chron. xxx, 9. For if ye turn again unto the LORD, your brethren and your children shall find compassion before them that lead them captive, so that they shall come again into this land: for the LORD your God is gracious and merciful, and will not turn away his face from you, if ye return unto him. Job iv, 7. Remember, I pray thee, who ever perished, being innocent? or where were the righteous cut off? Job v, 19, 21. He shall deliver thee in six troubles; yea, in seven there shall no evil touch thee. Thou shalt be hid from the Scourge of the tongue; neither shalt thou be afraid of destruction when it cometh. Job xxil, 30. He shall deliver the island of the innocent; and it is delivered by the pureness of thine hands. Ps. xxxvii, 19, 20, 23, 24. 31-33. They shall not be ashamed in the evil time; and in the days of famine they shall be satisfied. But the wicked shall perish, and the enemies of the LORD shall be as the fat of lambs: they shall consume; into smoke shall they consume away. The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD; and he delighteth in his way. Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the LORD upholdeth him with his hand. The law of his God is in his heart; none of his steps shall slide. The wicked watcheth the righteous, and seeketh to slay him. The LORD will not leave him in his hand, nor conderun him when he is judged. Ps. cxii, 4. Unto the upright there ariseth light in the darkness, he is gracious and full of compassion, and righteous. Prov. i, 33. But whoso hearkeneth unto me shall dwell safely, and shall be quiet from fear of evil. Prov. xll, 28. In the way of righteousness is life; and in the pathway thereof there is no death. Eccles, vill, 5. Whoso keepeth the commandment shall feel no evil thing: and a wise man's heart discerneth both time and judg nent. Isa. liv, 14. In righteousness shalt thou be established: thou shalt be far from oppression; for thou shalt not fear: and from terror; for it shall not come near thee. Jer. xxxix, 16-18. But if a man be just, and do that which is law. ful and right, Hath walked in my statutes, and hath kept my judgments, to deal truly; he is just, he shall surely live, saith the Lord GOD. IN SPIRITUAL BLESSINGS. 1 Sam. xli, 14, 15. If ye will fear the LORD, and serve him, and obey his voice, and not rebel against the commandment of the LORD, then shall both ye, and also the king that reigneth over you, continue following the LORD your God: But if ye will not obey the voice of the LORD, but rebel against the commandment of the LORD, then shall the hand of the LORD be against you, as it was against your fathers. 2 Chron. xv, 7. Be ye strong therefore, and let not your hands be weak; for your work shall be rewarded. Job xxii, 21. Acquaint now thyself with him, and be at peace: thereby good shall come unto thee. Ps. v, 12. For thou, LORD, wilt bless the righteous; with favour wilt thou compass him as with a shield. Ps. xviii, 24. Therefore hath the LORD recompensed me according to my righteousness, according to the cleanness of my hands in his eyesight. Ps. xxiv, 5, 6. He shall receive the blessing from the LORD, and righteousness from the God of his salvation. This is the generation of them that seek him, that seek thy face, O Jacob. Selah. Ps. xxv, 10. All the paths of the LORD are mercy and truth unto such as keep his covenant and his testimonies. Ps. xxxi, 19, 20. Oh how great is thy goodness, which thou hast laid up for them that fear thee; which thou hast wrought for them that trust in thee before the sons of men! Thou shalt hide them in the secret of thy presence from the pride of man; thou shalt keep them secretly in a pavilion from the strife of tongues. Ps. xxxiii, 12. Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD; and the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance. Ps. xxxvii, 27-29, 37. Depart from evil, and do good; and dwell for evermore. For the LORD loveth judgment, and forsaketh not his saints; they are preserved for ever: but the seed of the wicked shall be cut off. The righteous shall inherit the land, and dwell therein for ever. Mark the perfect man, and behold the upright: for the end of that man is peace. Ps. Ixv, 4. Blessed is the man whom thou choosest, and causest to approach unto thee, that he may dwell in thy courts: we shall be satisfied with the goodness of thy house, even of thy holy temple. Ps. lxxxiv, 11. For the LORD God is a sun and shield: the LORD will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly. Ps. xcvii, 11. Light is sown for the righteous, and gladness for the upright in heart. Ps. cvi, 3. Blessed are they that keep judgment, and he that doeth rigliteousness at all times. Prov. xxi, 21. He that followeth after righteousness and mercy findeth life, righteousness, and honour. Jer. xxxiil, 6. Behold, I will bring it health and cure, and I will cure them, and will reveal unto them the abundance of peace and truth. Zech iii, 6, 7. And the angel of the LORD protested unto Joshua, saying, Thus saith the LORD of hosts, If thou wilt walk in my ways, and if thou wilt keep my charge, then thou shalt also judge my house, and shalt also keep my courts, and I will give thee places to walk among these that stand by. John xli, 26. If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will my Father honour. ASPECTS OF PROVIDENCE TOWARD THE WICKED. PERSONAL PUNISHMENT. Num. xiv, 41-43. And Moses sald, Wherefore now do ye transgress the commandment of the LORD? but it shall not prosper. Go not up, for the LORD is not among you; that ye be not smitten before your enemies. For the Amalekites and the Canaanites are there before you, and ye shall fall by the sword: because ye are turned away from the LORD, therefore the LORD will not be with you. 2 Sam. ii, 39. . . . . The LORD shall reward the doer of evil according to his wickedness. Job xxi, 28, 29, 31, 32, 34. For ye say, Where is the house of the prince? and where are the dwelling-places of the wicked? Have ye not asked them that go by the way? and do ye not know their tokens. Who shall declare his way to his face? and who shall repay him what he hath done? Yet shall be be brought to the grave, and shall remain in the tomb. How then comfort ye me in vain, seeing in your answers there remaineth falsehood? Job xxxi, 2. 3. For what portion of God is there from above? and what inheritance of the Almighty from on high? Is not destruction to the wicked? and a strange punishment to the workers of iniquity? Job xxxiv, 26, 27. He striketh them as wicked men in the open sight of others; Because they turned back from him, and would not consider any of his ways. Job xxxvi, 17. But thou hast fulfilled the judgment of the wicked: judgment and justice take hold on thee. Ps. 1, 4. The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away. Ps. i, 5. Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous. Ps. ix, 16. The LORD is known trodden down all them that err Prov. iv, 19. The way of the Prov. xxi, 10-12. The soul of the wicked desireth evil: his neighbour findeth no favour in saith the LORD unto the wicked. Isa. Ivii, 20, 21. But the wicked Jer. xxiii, 19, 20. Behold, a Whirlwind of the LORD is gone forth in fury, even a grievous whirlwind: it shall fall grievously upon the head of the wicked. The anger of the LORD shall not return, until he have executed, and till he have performed the thoughts of his heart: in the latter days ye shall consider it perfectly. Jer. xxx, 14, 15, 22, 23. All thy seek thee not: for I have wounded lovers have forgotten thee; they thee with the wound of an enemy, with the chastisement of a cruel one, for the multitude of thine iniquity; because thy sins were increased. Why criest thou for thine affliction? thy sorrow is incurable for the multitude of thine iniquity: because thy sins were increased, I have done these things unto thee. And ye shall be my people, and I will be your God. Behold, the whirlwind of the LORD thine heart, Wherefore come the things upon me? How long will ye imagine mischief against a man? ye shall be slain all of you: as a bowing wall shall ye be, and as a tottering fence. Ps. xcii, 9. For, lo, thine enemies O LORD, for, lo, thine enemies shall perish; all the workers of iniquity shall be scattered. Prov. ii, 22. But the wicked shall be cut off from the earth, rooted out of it. Hosea ix, 9, 17. They have deeply corrupted themselves, as in the days of Gibeah: therefore he and the transgressors shall be will remember their iniquity, he will visit their sins. My God will cast them away, because they did not hearken unto him: and they shall be wanderers among the nations. AND DEATH IN EVERY SENSE. Gen. vi, 13. And God said unto Noah, The end of all flesh is come before me; for the earth is filled with violence through them: and, behold I will destroy them with the earth. Num.xxvii, 13,14. Even as I have seen wickedness, reap the same. By the blast of God they perish, and by the breath of his nostrils are they consumed. Job xxxvi, 12. But if they obey not, they shall perish by the sword, and they shall die without knowledge. Ps. xi, 6. Upon the wicked he shall reign snares, fire and brimstone, and an horrible tempest: this shall be the portion of their cup. Ps. xxxvii, 9, 10. For evil-doers 691 burneth as the fire: it shall devour Isaiah ix, 18. For wickedness the briers and thorns, and shall kindle in the thickets of the forest; and they shall mount up like the lifting up smoke. Jer. xxi, 14. But I will punish you according to the fruit of your doings, saith the LORD: and I will and it shall devour all things kindle a fire in the forest thereof, round about it. Ezek. xviii, 18. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. Acts iv, 12. Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men whereby we must be saved. Rom. vi, 18, 22. Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness. But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life. 1 Cor. i, 30, 31. But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption: That, according as it is written, He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord. Gal. i, 4. Who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of God and our Father. Gal. iii, 13. Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us; for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree. Gal. iv, 1. Now I say, That the heir, as long as he is a child, differeth nothing from a servant, though he be lord of all. 1 Tim. i, 15. This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief. Titus il, 14. Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works. 1 John iv, 9,14.
