MYSTERIES IN PROVIDENCE. PROVIDENCE OFTEN MARK

Job xxi, 6-9. Even when I remember I am afraid, and trembling taketh hold on my flesh. Wherefore do the wicked live, become old, yea, are mighty in power? Their seed is established in their sight with them, and their offspring before their eyes. Their houses are safe from fear, neither is the rod of God upon them.

Job xxiv, 12. Men groan from out of the city, and the soul of the wounded crieth out; yet God layeth not folly to them.

Ps. lxxiii, 2-4, 13-15. But as for me, my feet were almost gone; my steps had well nigh slipped. For I was envious at the foolish, when I saw the prosperity of the wicked. For there are no bands in their death; but their strength is firm. Verily I have cleansed my heart in vain, and washed my hands in innocency. For all the day long have I been plagued, and chastened every morning. If I say, I will speak thus; behold, I should offend against the generation of thy children.

Exod. viii, 22, 23. And I will sever in that day the land of my people Goshen, in which dwell, that no swarms of flies shall be there; to the end thou mayest know that I am the LORD in the midst of the earth. And I

will put a division between my people and thy people: to-morrow shall this sign be.

Exod. ix, 4-7, 26. And the LORD shall sever between the cattle of Israel and the cattle of Egypt: and there shall nothing die of all that is the children's of Israel. And the LORD appointed a set time, saying, To-morrow the LORD shall do this thing in the land. And the LORD did that thing on the morrow, and all the cattle of Egypt died: but of the cattle of the children of Israel died not one. And Pharaoh sent, and, behold, there was not one of the cattle of the Israelites dead. And the heart of Pharaoh was hardened, and he did not let the people go. Only in the land of Goshen, where the children of Israel were,

was there no hail.

Jer. xii, 1, 2. Righteous art thon, O LORD, when I plead with thee; yet let me talk with thee of thy judgments: Wherefore doth the way of the wicked prosper? Exod. xi, 7. But against any of acherefore are all they happy that the children of Israel shall not a deal very treacherously? Thou dog move his tongue, against man hast planted them; yea, they have or beast; that ye may know how Laken root; they grow; they bring that the LORD doth put a differ685

Num. xiv, 34, 35. Job xv, 31. Let not him that is deceived trust in vanity; for vanity shall be his recompence.

Job xviii, 7. The steps of his strength shall be straitened, and his own counsel shall cast him down.

Job xxxiv, 11. For the work of a man shall he render unto him, and cause every man to find according to his ways.

Ps. vii, 15. He made a pit, and digged it, and is fallen into the ditch which he made.

Ps. xxxvii, 14, 15. The wicked have drawn out the sword, and have bent their bow, to cast down the poor and needy, and to slay such as be of upright conversation. Their sword shall enter into their own heart, and their bows shall be broken.

Ps. xciv, 23. And he shall bring upon them their own iniquity, and shall cut them off in their own wickedness; yea, the LORD our God shall cut them off.

Prov. v, 22. His own iniquities shall take the wicked himself, and he shall be holden with the cords of his sins.

Prov. xxvi, 27. Whoso diggeth a pit shall fall therein; and he that rolleth a stone, it will return upon

him.

Eccles. x, 8, 9. He that diggeth a pit shall fall into it; and whoso an hedge, a serpent breaketh shall bite him. Whoso removeth stones shall be hurt therewith, and he that cleaveth wood shall be endangered thereby.

Isa. iii, 11. Woe unto the wicked! it shall be ill with him; for the reward of his hands shall be given

him.

Jer. iv, 18. Thy way and thy doings have procured these things unto thee: this is thy wickedness, because it is bitter, because it reacheth unto thine heart.

Jer. li, 24. And I will render unto Babylon and to all the inhabitants of Chaldea all their evil

that they have done in Zion in your sight, saith the LORD.

Hosea xil, 2. The LORD hath also a controversy with Judah, and will punish Jacob according

to his ways; according to his doings will he recompense him.

Obad. 15. For the day of the LORD is near upon all the heathen: as thou hast done, it shall be done unto thee; thy reward shall return upon thine own head.

Matth. xxiv, 40. Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be

taken, and the other left.

Prov. x, 6, 9, 24, 25, 29, 30. Blessings are upon the head of the just but violence covereth the mouth of the wicked. He that walketh uprightly walketh surely: but he that perverteth his ways shall be known. The fear of the wicked, it shall come upon him: but the desire of the righteous shall be granted. As the whirlwind passeth, so is the wicked no more: but the righteous is an everlasting foundation. The way of the LORD is strength to the upright: but destruction shall be to the workers of iniquity. The righteous shall never be removed: but the wicked shall not inhabit the earth.

Prov. xi, 3, 5, 6, 10, 11, 19, 20 21,31. The integrity of the upright shall guide them: but the perverseness of transgressors shall destroy them. The righteousness of the perfect shall direct his way: but the wicked shall fall by his own wickedness. The righteousness of the upright shall deliver them: but transgressors shall be taken in in their own naughtiness. When it goeth well with the righteous, the city rejoiceth; and when the wicked perish, there is shouting. By the blessing of the upright the city is exalted: but it is overthrown by the mouth of the wicked. As righteousness tendeth to life; so he that pursueth evil, pursueth it to his own death. They that are of a froward heart are abomination to the LORD: but such as are upright in their way are his delight. Num. xxvi, 55, 56. Notwithstanding the land shall be divided by lot: according to the names of the tribes of their fathers they shall inherit. According to the lot shall the possession thereof be divided between many and few.

These are the names of the men which shall divide the land unto you: Eleazar the priest, and Joshua the son of Nun. And ye shall take one prince of every tribe, to divide the land by inheritance. When he had caused the tribe of Benjamin to come near by their families, the family of Matri was taken, and Saul the son of Kish was taken: and when they sought him, he could not be found.

Deut. xxviii. 11, 13. And the LORD shall make thee plenteous in goods, in the fruit of thy body, and in the fruit of thy cattle, and in the fruit of thy ground, in the land which the LORD sware unto thy fathers to give thee. And the LORD shall make thee the head, and not the tail; and thou shalt be above only, and thou shalt not be beneath; if that thou hearken unto the commandments of the LORD thy God, which I command thee this day, to observe and to do them.

Deut. xxx. 9. 10. And the LORD
