MAGIC AND SORCERY.

Exod. vii, 11, 12, 21, 22. Then Pharaoh also called the wise men and the sorcerers: now the magicians of Egypt, they also did in like manner with their enchantments: For they cast down every man his rod, and they became serpents: but Aaron's rod swallowed up their rods. And the fish that was in the river died; and the river stank, and the Egyptians could not drink of the water of the river: and there was blood throughout all the land of Egypt. And the magicians of Egypt did so with their enchantments: and Pharaoh's heart was hardened, neither did he hearken unto them; as the LORD had said.

Erod. viii, 7, 18, 19. And the magicians did so with their enchantments, and brought up frogs upon the land of Egypt. And the magicians did so with their enchantments to bring forth lice, but they could not: so there were lice upon man and upon beast. Then the magicians said unto Pharaoh, This is the finger of God: and Pharaoh's heart was hardened, and he hearkened not unto them; as the LORD had said.

Exod. 13, 11. And the magicians

Acts viii, 9-11. But there was a certain man, called Simon, which beforetime in the same city used sorcery, and bewitched the people of Samaria, giving out that himself was some great one: To whom they all gave heed, from the least to the greatest, saying, This man is the great power of God. And to him they had regard, because that of long time he had bewitched them with sorceries.

Acts xiii, 6, 8. And when they had gone through the isle unto Paphos, they found a certain sorcerer, a false prophet, a Jew, whose name was Bar-jesus. But Elymas the sorcerer (for so is his naine by interpretation) withstood them, seeking to turn away the deputy from the faith.

Jesus I know, and Paul I know;
but who are ye? And the man in

on them, and overcame them, and
prevailed against them, so that
they fled out of that house naked
and wounded. And this was
known to all the Jews and Greeks
also dwelling at Ephesus; and fear
fell on them all, and the name of
the Lord Jesus was magnified.
And many that believed came,
and confessed, and shewed their
deeds. Many of them also which
used curious arts brought their

before all men: and they counted
the price of them, and found it

mightily grew the word of God
