2 Kings i, 2-6, 16, 17. And Ahaziah fell down through a lattice in his upper chamber that was in Samaria, and was sick and he sent messengers, and said unto them. Go, enquire of Baal-zebub the god of Ekron whether I shall recover of this disease. But the 2 Kings xxi, 6. Now therefore thus saith the LORD, Thou shalt not come down from that bed on which thou art gone up, but shalt surely die. And Elijah departed. And they said unto him, There came a man up to meet us, and said unto us, Go, turn again unto the king that sent you, and say unto him, Thus saith the LORD, Is it not because there is not a God in Israel, that thou sendest to enquire of Baal-zebub the god of Ekron? therefore thou shalt not come down from that

Hosea ix, 10. I found Israel like grapes in the wilderness; I saw the fig-tree at her first time: but your fathers as the first-ripe in separated themselves unto that they went to Baal-peor, and
shame; and their abominations were according as they loved.

Deut. xxix, 18. Lest there should be among you man, or woman, or family, or tribe, whose heart turneth away this day from the LORD our God, to go and serve the gods of these nations; lest there should be among you a root that beareth gall and wormwood.

TO BE AVOIDED. Exod. xxxiv, 13, 16. But ye shall destroy their altars, break their images, and cut down their groves: And thou take of their daughters unto thy sons, and their daughters go a whoring after their gods, and make thy sons go a whoring after their gods.
Num. xxxiii, 51, 52. Speak unto the children of Israel, and say over Jordan into the land of unto them, When ye are passed Canaan. Then ye shall drive out all the inhabitants of the land from before you, and destroy all their pictures, and destroy all their molten images, and quite pluck down all their high places.

When the LORD thy God shall cut off the nations from before thee, whither thou goest to possess them, and thou succeedest them, and dwellest in their land; Take heed to thyself, that thou be not snared by following them, after that they be destroyed from before thee; and that thou enquire not after their gods, saying, How did these nations serve their gods? even so will I do likewise. Thou shalt not do so unto the LORD thy God: for every abomination to the LORD which he hateth have they done unto their gods; for even their sons and their daughters they have burnt in the fire to their gods.
Deut. xiii, 17, 18. And there shall cleave nought of the cursed thing to thine hand: that the LORD may turn from the fierceness of his anger, and shew thee mercy, and have compassion upon thee, and multiply thee, as he hath sworn unto thy fathers; When thou shalt hearken to the voice of the LORD thy God, to keep all his commandments which I command thee this day, to do that which is right in the eyes of the LORD thy God.

Deut. v, 8, 9. Thou shalt not make thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the waters beneath the earth. Thou shalt not bow down thyself unto them, nor serve them; for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me.
Deut. xvi, 22. Neither shalt thou set thee up any image, which the LORD thy God hateth.

And thou shalt stone him with stones, that he die; because he hath sought to thrust thee away from the LORD thy God,
Deut. xvii, 2-5. Deut. xxx, 17, 18. But if thine heart turn away, so that thou wilt not hear, but shalt be drawn away, and worship other gods, and serve them; I denounce unto you this day, that ye shall surely perish and that ye shall not prolong your days upon the land whither thon passest over Jordan to go to possess it.
1 Kings xiv, 9, 10.
