VIII. The Second Collect, for Peace.

1. God is not the author of confusion, but of peace. 1 Co. xiv. 33. He maketh wars to cease unto the end of the earth, he breaketh the bow and cutteth the spear in sunder, he burneth the chariot in the fire. Ps. xlvi. 9. I will make with them a covenant of peace. Ex. xxxiv. 25. The God of peace be with you all. Ro. xv. 33, On earth peace, good will toward men. Lu. ii. 14.

2. Blessed are the peacemakers; for they shall be called the children of God. Mat. v. 9. A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you: by this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another. John xiii. 34, 35. Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity! Ps. cxxxiii. 1.-See also, Ep. iv. 3.-Ro. xv. 5.
