THE high proofs I have had of a difinterested spirit in you, and of your fincere attachment to our most holy religion, induce me to hope from you for a Dublin edition of Walker's excellent Sermons. You, and all who know me well, muft do me the juftice to believe, that I am a moft fincere member of the church established in this kingdom, in comparison with which it is my firm perfuafion, no other establishment of religion is, or ever was, in all refpects, fo closely conformed to the word of God, to found reason, or to the charitable spirit of the gospel. It is the genuine effect of this perfuafion, that I recommend these fermons to you, and to my country, though written by a Prefbyterian minifter. What tho' he followeth not with us? Is he not cafting out the devils of ungodliness and wickednefs? Is he not faithfully ferving our common master with a zeal and power, whether natural, or fupernatural, evidently lent him from above?
