After dinner, Mr. Thomas Leigh, who had to leave us to hurry back to England, spoke to us all on the reality of life; and wished all present "A very Happy New Year." Then we all moved into our large drawing-room—our circle having enlarged to seventy in number-and spent a very pleasant social evening, with the help of harp, piano, and recitations. Towards the close of the evening the following letter from Miss Leigh was read:

"MY VERY DEAR FRIENDS,-I send this little message with my love, as I cannot be with you at the opening of our new Governesses' Institute.

"This Home has been the subject of much prayer, not only in securing the apartment, but the object, for which I felt I could toil willingly in its accomplishment, not only to give rest to weary feet, but real heart rest to weary souls. Unless that object be attained, we labour in vain.

"The burden of all our work has but the one aim, that of bringing the love of Christ home to each heart. Whenever this is attained, a link of heaven's eternal joy has been forged on earth, which will never fail. Let us seek to know

ANNUAL MEETING OF THE ASSOCIATION. HE Annual Meeting of the Directors and Members of the Association of the Mission Homes in Paris was held Thursday, January 17th, at the London office of the Association, 9, Serjeants' Inn, Fleet Street, C. A. Roberts, Esq., in the chair. The meeting was opened with prayer, after which the last year's minutes were read and confirmed.

It was proposed and seconded that the retiring Directors, W. W. Williams, Esq., J.P., and T. A. Leigh, Esq., be re-elected.

Dr. Faure Miller was re-elected as Hon. Physician to the Homes, and the best thanks of the Association were tendered for his services during the past year.

Dr. Barnard was re-elected Hon. Physician to Washington House, the best thanks of the Association being tendered for his services. M. Jules Bour was re-elected as Auditor. The London Committee were re-elected, with power to add to their number.

Echoes from Paris.

Prof. Yeatman was elected Hon. Secretary of the Association for Paris, and Miss H. G. Hensley, of Wingrove, St. John's, Sevenoaks, was elected Hon. Sec. of the Association for England.

The Rev. R. T. de Carteret was elected member of the Paris Council, and Dr. Barnard Hon. Sec. to the Council. The remaining members of the Council were re-elected.

At the close of the meeting Miss Leigh announced that she had expected a letter from the Church Council, which not being received, would be dealt with at the next Directors' Meeting.

Miss Leigh announced the approaching marriage of the Bishop of Ontario and herself. She mentioned that the Bishop had been a friend to her work in Paris for several years, and that she, in taking this step, had no intention of disassociating herself from it.

The Homes would still be known by the name under which they were registered, as "the British and American Mission Homes and Christian Association in Parisfounded by Miss Leigh."

Miss Leigh received the congratulations of the meeting, which closed with a vote of thanks to the Chairman.
