C. Anti Christum or Year before Christ.-A. D. Anno Domini, or Year of Our Lord The Year of Our Lord always commences on the 1st of January, the day on which Christ was circumcised, being eight days old. The different years before Christ, which are inserted at the top of each page in the Old Testament, shews when any remarkable circumstance occurred, by referring to a star in the margin of that identical page. When the years at the top of the page are the same in several pages successively, the star is not inserted except in the first page of each year commencing. All the other numerous and remarkable occurrences mentioned in the Old and New Testament, will be inserted in the Indexes attached to the Book. From the Creation of the World until the Birth of Christ, was about four thousand and four years; by subtracting any of the years before Christ from 4004, it shews in what year of the World, or after the Creation, it happened also. |
