LESSON XVI.

MONDAY.-Ps. x. 4.-The wicked, through the pride of his countenance, will not seek after God: God is not in all his thoughts. TUESDAY.-James v. 12.-But above all things, my brethren, swear not, neither by heaven, neither by the earth, neither by any other oath: but let your yea be yea, and your nay, nay; lest ye fall into

condemnation. WEDNESDAY.-Ezek. xxi. 25.—And thou profane wicked princes of Israel, whose day is come, when iniquity shall have an end, THURSDAY.-Ezek. xxi. 26.—Thus saith the Lord God; Remove the diadem, and take off the crown: this shall not be the same: exalt him that is low, and abase him that is high.

FRIDAY.-Acts xxiii. 12.-And when it was day, certain of the Jews banded together, and bound themselves under a curse, saying that they would neither eat nor drink, till they had killed Paul. SATURDAY.-Matt. v. 34.-But I say unto you, Swear not at all; neither by heaven; for it is God's throne:

LESSON XVIII.

MONDAY.-Gen. ii. 2.-And on the seventh day God ended his work that he had made, and he rested the seventh day from all his work which he had made.

TUESDAY.-Ex. xx. 8.-Remember the sabbath day to keep it holy. WEDNESDAY.-Ex. xx. 9.—Six days shalt thou labor and do all thy work:

THURSDAY.-Ex. xx. 10.—But the seventh day is the sabbath of the Lord thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy man-servant, nor thy maid-servant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: FRIDAY.—Ex. XX. 11.-For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the Lord blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it. SATURDAY.—Ex. xvi. 23.—And he said unto them, This is that which the Lord hath said, To-morrow is the rest of the holy sabbath unto the Lord: bake that which ye will bake to-day, and seethe that ye will seethe; and that which remaineth over lay up for you to be kept until the morning.

SABBATH.-Deut. v. 15.-And remember that thou wast a servant in the land of Egypt, and that the Lord thy God brought thee out thence through a mighty hand and by a stretched out arm: therefore the Lord thy God commandeth thee to keep the sabbath day.

LESSON XIX.

MONDAY.-Lev. xxiii. 3.-Six days shall work be done: but the seventh day is the sabbath of rest, a holy convocation; ye shall do no work therein: it is the sabbath of the Lord in all your dwellings. TUESDAY.-Ex. xxxiv. 21.-Six days thou shalt work; but on the seventh day thou shalt rest: in earing time and in harvest thou shalt rest.

WEDNESDAY.-Lev. xxiv. 8.-Every sabbath he shall set it in order before the Lord continually, being taken from the children of Israel by an everlasting covenant.

THURSDAY.-Isa. lviii. 13.-If thou turn away thy foot from the sabbath, from doing my pleasure on my holy day; and call the sabbath a delight, the holy of the Lord, honorable: and shalt honor him, not doing thine own ways, nor finding thine own pleasure, nor speaking thine own words.

FRIDAY.-Isa. lxvi. 23.-And it shall come to pass, that from one new moon to another, and from one sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before me, saith the Lord.

SATURDAY.-Ezek. xliii. 27.-And when these days are expired, it shall be that upon the eighth day, and so forward, the priests shall make your burnt offerings upon the altar, and your peace offerings; and I will accept you, saith the Lord God.

SABBATH. Rev. i. 10.-I was in the Spirit on the Lord's day, and heard behind me a great voice, as of a trumpet.

LESSON XX.

MONDAY.-Matt. xii. 12.-How much then is a man better than a sheep? Wherefore it is lawful to do well on the sabbath day. TUESDAY.-Luke xiv. 1.-And it came to pass, as he went into the house of one of the chief pharisees to eat bread on the sabbath day, that they watched him.

WEDNESDAY.-John ix. 14.-And it was on the sabbath day when Jesus made the clay, and opened his eyes.

THURSDAY.-Acts xiii. 14.-But when they departed from Perga, they came to Antioch in Pisidia, and went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and sat down.

FRIDAY.-Acts xiii. 27.-For they that dwell at Jerusalem, and their rulers, because they knew him not, nor yet the voice of the prophets which are read every sabbath day, they have fulfilled them in condemning him.

SATURDAY.-Acts xiii. 42.-And when the Jews were gone out of the synagogue, the Gentiles besought that these words might be preached to them the next sabbath.

SABBATH.-Acts xx. 7.-And upon the first day of the week, when the disciples came together to break bread, Paul preached unto them, ready to depart on the morrow; and continued his speech until midnight.
