104 Danger of Covetousness. LESSON LII. MONDAY-1 Tim. vi. 10.-For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows. TUESDAY.-Hab. ii. 9.-Woe to him that coveteth an evil covetousness to his house, that he may set his nest on high, that he may be delivered from the power of evil! WEDNESDAY.—Ps. x. 3.—For the wicked boasteth of his heart's desire, and blesseth the covetous, whom the Lord abhorreth. THURSDAY.-1 Cor. vi. 10.-Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God. FRIDAY.-Jer. xxii. 13.-Woe unto him that buildeth his house by unrighteousness, and his chambers by wrong; that useth his neighbor's service without wages, and giveth him not for his work. SATURDAY.—Isa. v. 8.-Woe unto them that join house to house, that lay field to field, till there be no place, that they may be placed alone in the midst of the earth! THIS is so called because it begins with a fallen human being, under sentence of death for disobedience to God's law, and shows how he is recovered and saved by the gospel. It shows also how such an one feels and acts when saved, and especially his endeavors to help others out of their sin and misery to the glory of God.
