Egypt, and give them the land of Canaan, as he had promised to their fathers. And God told Moses to go to Pharaoh, and tell him that the Lord commanded him to let the Israelites go. But Pharaoh hardened his heart, and said he did not fear God, and he would not let the people go. So the Lord was angry with Pharaoh, and with all the land of Egypt. And he sent great plagues upon them, and, at last, he killed all their first-born sons. And there was a great cry all over Egypt for their children who were dead; and they said to the king, "Send this people away, or we shall be all dead men." Then Pharaoh was frightened, and he was glad to let the Israelites go. But, when they were gone, his wicked thoughts, returned again, and he determined to follow them, and try to bring them back again, and make them his servants for ever. So he called his people, and went after the Israelites, with men, and horses, and chariots. And when the children of Israel saw them coming, they were much afraid; but Moses prayed unto The Lord, and he heard them, and
