199. Of Vows. They are religiously to be fulfilled. Numb. xxx. 2. If a Mari yow a Vow unto the Lord, or fwear an Oath to bind his Soul with a Bond, he shall not break his Word, he fhall do according to all that proceedeth out of his Mouth

Deut. xxiii. 21. When thou fhalt vow a Vow unto the Lord thy God, thou shalt not flack to pay it, for the Lord thy God will furely require it of thee, and it would be a Sin in thee.

Ver. 22. But if thou fhalt forbear to vow, it shall be no Sin in thee. Prov. xx. 25. It is a Snare after Vows to make Enquiry.

Ver. 4. Thus faith the Lord to the Eunuchs that keep my Sabbaths, and choose the Things that please me, and take hold of my Covenant. Ver, 5. Even unto them, will I give in 'mine House and within my Walls a Place and a Name, better than of Sons and of Daughters, &c.

Ver. 6. Also the Sons of the Stranger that join themselves to the Lord to serve him, and to love the Name of the Lord, to be his Servants, every one that keepeth the Sabbath from polluting it, and taketh hold of my Covenant.

Ver. 7. Even them will I bring to my holy Mountain, and make them joyful in my Houfe of Prayer.

Iviii. 13. If thou turn away thy Foot from the Sabbath, from doing thy Pleasure on my holy Day, and call the Sabbath a Delight, the Holy of the Lord, honourable, and shalt honour him, not doing thine own Ways, nor finding thine own Pleafures, nor fpeaking thine own Words. Ver. 14. Then fhalt thou delight thyfelf in the Lord, and I will cause thee to ride upon the high places of the Earth, and feed thee with the Heritage of Jacob.

207. The Care of God's People to fanctify the Sabbath themselves, and to prevent the profaning it by others. Neh. x. 29. They entered into an Oath, and into a Curfe to walk in God's Law.

Ver. 31. And if the People of the Land bring Ware, or any Victuals, on the Sabbath-Day to fell, not to buy it of them on the Sabbath. xiii. 15. In thofe Days I faw in Judah, fome treading Wine-Preffes on the Sabbath, and bringing in Sheaves, and leading Affes; as also Wine, Grapes, and Figs, and all Manner of Burthens which they brought into Jerufalem on the Sabbath-Day, and I testified against them, in the Day wherein they fold Victuals.

Ver. 16. There dwelt Men of Tyre alfo therein, which brought Fish, and all Manner of Ware, and fold on the Sabbath unto the Children of Judah, and in Jerufalem.

Ver. 17. Then I contended with the Nobles of Judah, and faid unto them, what evil Thing is this that ye do, and profane the SabbathDay?

Neh. xiii. 18. Did not your Fathers thus, and did not our Got bring all this Evil upon us, and upon this City? yet ye bring more Wrath upon Ifrael by profaning the Sabbath.

Ver. 19. And it came to pafs, that when the Gates of Jerufalem began to be dark before the Sabbath, I commanded that the Gates hould be shut and not be opened till after the Sabbath, and fome of my Servants I fet at the Gates, that there should no Burthen be brought in on the Sabbath-Day.

Ver. 20. So the Merchants and Sellers of all Kind of Ware, lodged without Jerufalem once or twice.

Ver. 21. Then I teftified against them and faid unto them, why lodge ye about the Wall, if ye do fo again, I will lay Hands on you, from that time forth came they no more on the Sabbath.

Ver. 22. And I commanded the Levites, that they fhould cleanse themselves, and that they should come and keep the Gates, to fanctify the Sabbath.

208. Threatenings against Sabbath-Breakers. Exod. xxxi. 14. Ye fhall keep the Sabbath, every one that defileth it, fhall furely be put to Death.

Ver. 15. Whofoever doth any Work on the Sabbath-Day, he shall furely be put to Death. Ch. 35. 2.

Numb. xv. 32. While the Children of Ifrael were in the Wilderness, they found a Man that gathered Sticks on the Sabbath-Day, Ver. 33. And they brought him to Mofes and Aaron,

Ver. 34. And they put him in Ward,

Ver. 35. And the Lord faid unto Mofes, the Man shall be surely put to Death, all the Congregation fhall ftone him with Stones without the Camp.

Ver. 36, And all the Congregation brought him without the Camp, and floned him with Stones, and he died, as the Lord commanded Mafes.

CHAP. XVI.

Duties towards Mankind.

OVE. Lev. xix. 18. Thou shalt not avenge nor bear any Grudge against the Children of thy People, but thou shalt love thy Neighbour as thyself.

Ver. 34. The Stranger that dwelleth with you fhall be as one born among you, and thou thalt love him as thy felf.

Matt. v. 44. Love your Enemies, blefs them that curfe you, do Good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you and perfecute you.

Ver. 45. That ye may be the Children of your Father which is in Heaven, for he maketh his Sun to rife on the Evil and on the Good, and fendeth Rain on the Juft and on the Unjust.

Ver. 46. For if you love them which love you, what Reward have ye? Do not even the Publicans the fame ?

Ver. 47. And if you falute your Brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the Publicans the fame ?

Ver. 48. Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in Heaven is perfect.

xxii. 37. Thou fhalt love the Lord thy God with all thy Heart, and with all thy Soul, and with all thy Mind.

Ver. 38. This is the first and great Commandment.

Ver. 39. And the fecond is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy Neigh bour as thy felf.
