These Sermons are published to comply with the frequently expressed Wishes of many persons and for no other reason. Should they be thought less favourably of in print, than they were in the pulpit, the Author can only remind his fiiends, that Elocution lends a grace even to What is f'eebly conceived, and illy expressed; and that perhaps their good opinion of his Sermons has been less owing to their comprsition, than to their delivery. They have been selected from many others, not because the Author attaches to them a special value, but because nith few exceptions, they are on subjects in which all denominations of Christians are interested. Should they prove acceptable as a memorial to those with whom the writer has been officially con nected, or should their perusal he attended with profit to others.
