ERE it not a truth, that God VV owns the feeble efforts of such as are despised by men of parts and letters, the public should never have seen the ensuing performance.

The first part, according to the text, is upon that important subject, BELIEVING, and as various altercations have of late passed, relative to the nature of FAITH, it might be one cause why some were so desirous to see this in print ; I'm sure it was one reason why I made an attempt to preach upon the subject ; for I resolved that my elder brethren should be fully acquainted with my sentiments on that head; hoping, that if I were wrong: fome one would be fa friendly as to ens deavour to reclaim a wanderer, I cannot affirm, that the following sheets contain verbatin what was said : that was next to an impossibility, as I did not write more than would fill the Eight part of a sheet of paper previous to my preaching : but,
