great Confequence to Chriftianity, and its
peculiar Truth, as to the prefent Conftitu-
tions, a very great mark of genuine Since-
rity therein, and very agreeable to our Sa-
viour's furprizing and moft wife manage-
ment in thefe matters. For Chrift our Lord,
befides the Delivery of his Laws himself to
the Eleven after his Refurrection and firft
Afcenfions, did afterwards, by Miracle, con-
vert Saul, the moft obftinate Perfecutor
which the Gospel had, and made
him the
Strongest Witness to it of them all, and
by a diftinct method of direct Revelation
and Inftruction communicated to him exact-
ly the very
fame Gofpel, the very fame fa-
cred Laws and Conftitutions which he had
communicated to the reft before; and fo
Ordain'd him to be an intirely new and
diftinct means of conveying the fame to his
Church; and by the punctual agreement of
both Revelations fecur'd all Chriftians of
their Divine Original and Authority for
ever. Thus Paul moft exprefly declares

concerning. himfelf; Παῦλο Σπόςολο σοκ απ' ἀνθρώπων, οὐδὲ δι ανθρώπε, αλλά δε ἰησε Gal. 1. 1 χρισι, καὶ θεῖ πατρός, τὸ ἐγείρανα αυτὸν ἐκ νεκρών. γνωρίζω ἢ ὑμῖν, αδελφοί, τὸ ους αγέλιον Το ευαγΓελιοθὲν ὑπ ̓ ἐμὲ ὅτι ἔκ ἔτι και τ. 11. 12. ἄνθρωπον οτε η έγώ του ανθρώπε παρέλα βον αυτό, ἔτε ἐδιδάχθω, ἀλλὰ δὲ ἀποκαλύψεως inoxes. And fo he goes on to give a full account of the fame thing, and as to a matter of great confequence, calls God to witnefs to the truth of what he fays herein : & 5 γράφω ὑμῖν ἰδὲ, ενώπιον το θες, ὅτιν. 10. & fol dongy. Accordingly we learn from the Sixth Book of the Conftitutions, as the true reading was in the Fifth Century, preferv'd to us by Varadatus, that at the famous, and otherwife general affembly, when the Catholick Doctrine was written, about A. D. 64. all the furviving Apoftles were there but Paul, Sancti Apoftoli dum Congregati effent in Jerufalem, præter Paulum Apoftolum omnes fimul Librum Actuam confcripfe 4p. Grabe runt, propter fidem Domini Jefu Chrifti: & Spicileg. permanet in fanctis Ecclefiis quod fcripfe-48 E. Conrunt: And that this is true, the whole ci Labb.
